      • 15th Urban Mobility Conference will be held in Kochi in November 2022 on the theme of “Azadi@75: Sustainable AtmaNirbhar Urban Mobility”.

  3. Ministry of Rural Development is aiming to ensure that women associated with self-help groups (SHGs) are soon able to earn at least ₹1 lakh per year.
      • For the realization of this ambitious goal, the ministry has envisioned livelihood support to 25 million rural SHG women in the next two years.
  4. Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation has launched the “Dairy Sahakar” scheme at Anand, Gujarat, during the function organised by Amul for celebrating its 75th foundation year.
      • Budget – Rs 5000 crores
      • Implementing Agency – National Cooperative Development Corporation, Ministry of Cooperation
      • Purpose – to provide financial assistance to cooperatives for bovine development, milk procurement, processing, quality assurance, value addition, branding, packaging, marketing, transportation and storage of milk and milk products, exports of dairy products.

  1. Madhya Pradesh govt has launched the Mukhyamantri Awasiya Bhu Adhikar Yojana to provide free residential homes to families who don’t have their own houses.
      • The construction of these houses will be done under the PM Awas Yojana.
  2. Punjab govt has announced to start the census of one of the world’s most threatened cetaceans, the Indus river dolphin (Platanista gangetica minor) — a freshwater dolphin that is found in river Beas.
  3. Odisha government has announced full exemption of motor vehicles taxes and registration fees on electric vehicles (EVs) in the state.
      • The exemption, granted under the Odisha Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, is applicable till 2025.

  1. Governments of the United States and India co-hosted the 4th annual Indo-Pacific Business Forum (IPBF) virtually October 28-29, 2021.
      • The key themes for the Forum were economic recovery and resilience; climate action; and digital innovation.
      • Arizona-based First Solar announced to invest $684 million in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu for solar module manufacturing facility.
  2. 2021 Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue (IPRD) was organized virtually.
      • Theme – “Evolution in Maritime Strategy during the 21st Century: Imperatives, Challenges, and, Way Ahead”
      • IPRD was first conducted in 2018.
      • IPRD is the apex international annual conference of the Indian Navy. The National Maritime Foundation is the navy’s knowledge partner and chief organiser of each edition of this annual event.
  3. COP 26 of UNFCCC was held at Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom.
      • An online dashboard – the ‘Climate Equity Monitor’ – was launched to assess equity in climate action, inequalities in emissions besides energy and resource consumption across the world. India has also endorsed this website.
  4. Announcements by India (Panchamrit): –

      • India pledged to become net-zero carbon emission country by 2070.
      • Renewable energy target is 500 GW by 2030.
      • 50% of energy requirements to be fulfilled by renewable energy.
      • Reduce 1 billion carbon emissions by 2030.
      • Reduce carbon intensity of GDP to below 45% by 2030.

    India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under Paris Agreement: –

      • Reduce carbon intensity of GDP by 30-35% by 2030, in comparison to 2005 levels.
      • 40% of energy requirements to be fulfilled by renewable energy.

  1. G20 Summit 2021 was held in Rome, Italy on the theme of ‘People, Planet and Prosperity’.
      • Leaders adopted the Rome Declaration on Health.
      • During the visit to Rome, PM Narendra Modi met with Francis Pope at Vatican City.
      • This year’s G20 summit, the eighth in line attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is being hosted physically in Rome.
  2. Highlights of the Summit: –

      • The G20 Climate Risk Atlas was released to provide climate scenarios, information, data and future changes in climate across the G20 countries.
      • G20 members decided to stop financing of overseas coal-fired power generation by the end of this year (2021).
      • They will emphasise Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for pooling fund for climate change.
      • 15% Global Minimum Corporate Tax deal was endorsed by G20 members.
      • Global temperature to be kept at 1.5 degrees Celsius.

    India’s Decisions: –

      • India is ready to produce over 5 billion vaccine doses by the end of next year (2022).
      • India welcomed the European Union’s Indo-Pacific strategy and French leadership in it.
      • India and France conducted a bilateral meeting on the side lines of G20. The leaders decided to expand their Indo-Pacific partnership.

  1. Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a USD 250 million loan to support India’s National Industrial Corridor Development Program (NICDP).
      • This is the first subprogram of the USD 500 million loan to develop 11 industrial corridors spanning 17 states.
  2. Ministry of Finance has approved an 8.5% interest rate on provident funds for 2020-21.
      • The EPFO has an active subscriber base of more than 6.7 crore and 6.9 lakh contributing establishments.
