      • These magnetometers are known for their higher accuracy, higher sensitivity, and efficient power consumption and hence find applications in all magnetic observatories worldwide as well as in international space programs.
      • It has so far been imported for such purposes in India.

  3. Union Ministry of Forest and Environment has given its approval to the Terai Elephant Reserve (TER), which covers 3,049 sq. km including Dudhwa Tiger Reserve and Pilibhit Tiger Reserve located in Lakhimpur and Pilibhit districts.
      • With the terai elephant reserve coming into existence in Uttar Pradesh, Dudhwa Tiger Reserve will be the only national park in Uttar Pradesh that will protect and conserve four iconic wild animal species — Tiger, One-horned Rhinoceros, Asian Elephant and Swamp deer.
      • The reserve is being developed under the Project Elephant.
      • It will be the second elephant reserve in Uttar Pradesh and 33rd in India.

      • The hot test was conducted at the High-Altitude Test facility of ISRO Propulsion Complex at Mahendragiri, Odisha.
      • The CE-20 will power the cryogenic upper stage of the LVM3 vehicle working with the LOX-LH2 propellants combination.
      • The OneWeb satellites will be launched by NewSpace India Ltd.

      • Gujarat has achieved this feat on the occasion of the Gujarati new year (October 26).
      • Launched in 2019, the mission targets to make available 55 litres of water per person every day to each rural household through household tap connections by 2024.

  3. Meghalaya government has signed an MoU with the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGFTMSE) to implement the ‘Meghalaya Credit Guarantee Scheme’ (MCGS).
      • This MoU will strengthen the credit delivery system and facilitate flow of credit to the MSE sector.
      • Currently, the loans taken by MSME borrowers are covered under CGTMSE against a risk coverage of 75% of the loan amount under various MSME schemes. Banks still felt reluctant in providing loans to MSMEs at 25% risk.
      • Therefore, the MCGS scheme was launched which increases the coverage guarantee up to a maximum of 95%.
      • The total corpus of MCGS is Rs 250 crores. Considering average loan size of Rs 1 lakh, more than 25,000 units would be supported through this state government scheme.

      • Developer – A consortium led by Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) and Airbus Defence and Space (a European company)
      • The manufacturing of C-295 aircraft takes place at Airbus’s plant in Spain.
      • In 2021, India signed a Rs 21,935 crore deal with Airbus Defence and Space to procure 56 C295 aircraft to replace the IAF’s ageing Avro-748 planes, which entered service in the early 1960s.
      • Under the agreement, 16 aircraft will be procured from Spain’s plant in ‘fly-away condition’ between 2023-25. The rest will be manufactured by Tata in India.

        • It is the first project of its kind in which a military aircraft will be manufactured in India by a private company.
        • It is also the first time that the C295 aircraft will be manufactured outside of Europe.

      • According to the report, India should increase investments in green financing up to $12.1 trillion by 2050.
  1. “Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change: Health at the Mercy of Fossil Fuels” report has been published in The Lancet.
      • According to the report, India suffered a loss of 167.2 billion labour hours in 2021 due to heatwaves.
      • It is equivalent to 5.4% of India’s GDP.
      • The report analysed 103 countries. It has been found that heatwaves, which hit India and Pakistan in March and April, were considerably more likely due to the effects of climate change.

      • In 2022, 202 countries and territories with more than 99% of the world’s population and TB cases reported data.
      • Global TB Deaths in 2021 – 1.4 million (more than double the number caused by HIV/AIDS (0.65 million)
      • The 30 high TB burden countries accounted for 87% of all estimated incident cases worldwide.
      • Eight of these countries accounted for more than two-thirds of the global total: India (28%), Indonesia (9.2%), China (7.4%), the Philippines (7.0%), Pakistan (5.8%), Nigeria (4.4%), Bangladesh (3.6%) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (2.9%).
  1. According to the 2022 Forest Declaration Assessment, deforestation rates worldwide declined only modestly in 2021 by 6.3% compared to the 2018-20 baseline.
      • A 10% annual reduction is needed to be on course to halt deforestation completely by 2030.
      • Some 145 countries affirmed their commitment to halt and reverse forest loss and land degradation by 2030 at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow (2021).
      • Brazil was the world’s largest contributor to deforestation in 2021.
      • Global tree cover increased by 9 million hectares over the past two decades.
      • Three-quarters of the global gain was concentrated in 13 countries. The most significant improvements were observed in Russia (28.4%), Canada (13%), the United States (10.7%), Brazil (6.2%), and China (5%).
      • India also increased its tree cover by 0.87 Mha in 2021.
      • As per the report, it will cost up to $460 billion per year to protect, restore and enhance forests on a global scale.
