  1. Ladakh has organized the Nomadic Festival at Korzok Phu, for the first time, to promote tourism in the Changthang region.
      • Korzok monastery is a famous site at Puga, Ladakh.
  2. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched the ‘My Pad My Right’ project in Tripura.
      • The project is an initiative of NABARD and its NAB Foundation to provide better livelihood and menstrual hygiene to women in rural areas through grants, wage support and capital equipment.
      • The initiative provides one sanitary pad making machine, raw materials for two months, wages for 50 days, packaging material with accessories and a five-day training in three phases.
  3. Telangana government has partnered with Marut Drones, a Hyderabad-based drone technology startup, to launch ‘Hara Bhara’ – a drone-based afforestation project.
      • This is a first-of-its-kind initiative where the state government will be planting 50 lakh trees across 12,000 hectares of land in forests in all the 33 districts of Telangana.
      • The state also launched ‘Aghub’ (Agri Innovation Hub) at Professor Jyashankar, Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU).
      • NABARD provided a grant of ₹9 crore to support the innovation hub at the university for five years.
  4. Chandigarh Administration and Indian Air Force has signed an Agreed in Principle for setting up of “Airforce Heritage Centre” at Government Press Building, Chandigarh.
      • This is the first such Air force Heritage Centre in the country.

      • Nigerian govt has also partnered with Bitt Inc as a technical partner.
  2. For the first time, G20 Conference on Women’s Empowerment was held in Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy.
      • The conference was held in a hybrid format.
      • Minister of Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani, addressed the meeting.

  1. UNICEF has released the ‘Uncertain Pathways: How gender shapes the experiences of children on the move’ report.
      • The number of persons living outside their country of birth or citizenship reached a record high of 281 million in 2020 – representing 3.6% of the global population.
      • Children (below the age of 18) accounted for 35.5 million of them. Of which, 1/3rd or an estimated 13 million, were refugees and asylum seekers.
      • Of the 35.5 million international child migrants in 2020, boys outnumbered girls by 1.2 million or 6.7% – the largest difference ever recorded.
      • Around 9 million child migrants lived in the Middle East and North Africa in 2020 – 54.3% were boys. Western Europe also showed a more pronounced gender imbalance, with boys comprising 52% of the 5.6 million child migrants.
      • However, in Africa, this gender imbalanced is almost reversed. Here, girl migrants outnumber boys.

      • Consumers can avail collateral-free loans of up to ₹10 lakh on the 12% Club for a tenure of 3 months, as per their convenience.
  2. Northern Arc Capital (a debt platform) has concluded a $50 million (about ₹365 crore) external commercial borrowing (ECB) transaction with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
      • JICA is Japan’s governmental agency that works towards promoting economic and social growth in developing countries.
      • The amount will be used to cater to the credit demands of women borrowers or towards products that disproportionately benefit women.
      • JICA is providing the loan, in partnership with United States International Development Finance Corporation (USDFC). This is JICA’s first co-financing with USDFC.
