  1. World Bank has approved two loans of $500 million each for the Pradhan Mantri-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), which was launched in October 2021 for the development the public healthcare infrastructure across the country.
      • One of the two loans is meant to provide priority to the states of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Meghalaya, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh for the improvement of their current medical infrastructure.
      • Separately, the World Bank has also approved $750 million loan to India for enhancing the private sector investment in infrastructure, small businesses, and the green finance markets.
        • It will be used to improve financial inclusion as well as the stability of the financial sector and the domestic capital markets.

      • Under ‘Project Surya’ initiative, women salt-pan workers, who work in the challenging and extreme temperatures at Rann of Kutch marshes, will be trained as solar panel and solar-pump technicians at Dhokavada village in the Patan district of Gujarat.
  5. Union Cabinet has approved the categorization of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) as an ‘International Organization’.
      • The cabinet has also approved the signing of the Headquarters Agreement with CDRI for granting it the exemptions, immunities and privileges as contemplated under the United Nations (Privileges & Immunities) Act, 1947.
  6. Union Cabinet was informed a Strategic Partnership Agreement signed between the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
      • Purpose – to drive ambition, leadership and knowledge on green energy transitions based on renewable energy in India

      • ‘India Forum for Nature-based Solutions’ is led by the NIUA C-Cube and anchored by WRI India under the Cities4Forests initiative.
      • It is supported by Caterpillar Foundation, Department of Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Govt. of United Kingdom and Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI).
      • Purpose – to create a collective of entrepreneurs, government entities and like-minded organisations to help scale urban nature-based solutions

• Also, handholding support is being provided to applicants/entrepreneurs through the engagement of banking, technical & marketing experts.

  1. DRDO has successfully tested the made-in-India ‘ABHYAS’ – a High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Odisha’s Chandipur.
      • It is designed and developed by Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), a Bengaluru based DRDO laboratory along with other DRDO laboratories.
      • ABHYAS is an indigenous unmanned aerial target system to meet the requirement of Indian Armed Forces to eliminate air-borne threats.
      • Recently, India has also test-fired the Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) in Chandipur.
  2. DRDO has successfully carried out the maiden flight of Autonomous Flying Wing Technology Demonstrator from Aeronautical Test Range at Chitradurga in Karnataka.
      • This is a milestone achievement under the secretive unmanned combat aerial vehicle UCAV programme of India, under which a technology demonstrator called stealth wing flying test bed (SWift) is being developed.

Memorandum of Understanding

    1. Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) have signed an MOU for imparting skill development training to the personnel in the capital goods sector.
        • Training will be provided in several engineering trades under the Scheme for Enhancement of Competitiveness in the Capital Goods Sector Phase II.
        • The training will be given through Qualification Packs (QPs) developed by MHI related Sector Skill Councils (like Automotive, Infrastructure, Instrumentation and Capital Goods).

Additional Facts –

    • Under the Scheme for Enhancement of Competitiveness in the Capital Goods Sector Phase II, a new component for promotion of skilling was introduced to cater for futuristic industrial requirements.
    • Qualification Packs for Level 6 and above has been created for this purpose. Under the component, the Ministry is promoting skilling in the Capital Goods sector by creation of Qualification packages (QPs) for skill levels 6 and above.

        • 7 states – Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Punjab, Telangana and Tamil Nadu – have been identified as the top achievers based on implementation of the Business Reforms Action Plan.
        • Under the Achievers category, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are present.
        • In the Aspirers category, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Jharkhand, Kerala, Rajasthan and West Bengal have been placed.
        • In the Emerging Business Ecosystems category, Andaman and Nicobar, Bihar, Chandigarh, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Puducherry and Tripura have been put together.
      • About the report –
        • BRAP 2020 includes 301 reform points that cover 15 business regulatory areas such as Access to Information, Single Window System, Labour, Environment, Sectoral Reforms and other reforms.
        • For the first time, sectoral reforms have been introduced in BRAP 2020 wherein 72 Reforms were identified across 9 sectors, namely, trade license, healthcare, legal metrology, cinema halls, hospitality, fire NOC, telecom, movie shooting and tourism.
        • Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has been publishing BRAP since 2014.
        • So far, 4 editions of the assessment of States/UTs have been released, and the latest edition is for 2020 assessment.
  4. RBI has released the report on Benchmarking India’s Payment Systems for providing a comparative position of the payments ecosystem in India relative to other major countries.
      • India was categorized as a ‘leader’ or ‘strong’ in respect of 25 (21 in the previous exercise) out of 40 indicators and categorized as ‘weak’ in respect of 8 (12 in the previous exercise) indicators.
      • As per the report, there is scope for improvement in acceptance infrastructure i.e. ATMs and PoS terminals.
  5. Central government has increased the basic import duty (BCD) on gold to 15%, from 10.75%, to check the current account deficit and the rising import of the yellow metal.

      • The award was given by The UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on Indian Traditional Sciences (ITSappg).
      • The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Indian Traditional Sciences was formed in 2014 with an aim to spread the knowledge of Ayurveda, Yoga, Jyotish, Vastu, Unani and Sangeetam in the United Kingdom and abroad.
