      • Both countries will explore development of green hydrogen, setting up renewable energy corridors, and joint projects in the natural gas sector.
      • They will collaborate on large size green corridor project in India to capitalize on India’s target to produce and integrate 450 GW of renewable energy by 2030.
  3. National Commission for Women (NCW), along with the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has launched a pan-India Legal Awareness Program for Women titled “Empowerment of Women through Legal Awareness”.
      • The programme was launched in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh by Justice UU Lalit (SC Judge & Chairman of NALSA) and Rekha Sharma (chairman of National Commission for Women).
  4. eGov Foundation’s DIGIT platform will provide its support to the National Urban Digital Mission (NUDM).
      • The purpose of this collaboration is to create and implement the National Urban Governance Platform (a cloud-based platform), which is one of the several initiatives under the NUDM.
      • The NUDM was launched in February 2021 to provide govt services online to the citizens to improve the ease of living for citizens.
      • Along with the National Urban Governance Platform, nine other services applications are also being developed under the NUDM, which are –
        • I. property tax assessment and payment,
        • II. building plan approval,
        • III. municipal grievance redressal,
        • IV. trade license issuance and payment,
        • V. No-Objection Certificate (NOC) issuance,
        • VI. water and sewerage connection management,
        • VII. NMAM compliant municipal accounting and finance,
        • VIII. birth and death certificates
        • IX. user charges – electricity, water supply, etc.
      • DIGIT stands for ‘Digital Infrastructures for Governance, Impact and Transformation’.
  5. On Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, has launched the Bhasha Sangam initiative for schools, Bhasha Sangam Mobile App and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Mobile Quiz.
      • Bhasha Sangam Initiative for schools – developed by NCERT; available on DIKSHA, ePathshala and 22 booklets; to acquaint students with Indian languages.
      • Bhasha Sangam Mobile App – developed by Dept of Higher Education and MyGov;
        • The App has been developed by a startup Multibhashi, selected by myGov through a competition.
        • The App initially has 100 sentences of every day usage in 22 Indian languages.
      • EBSB Quiz App – to acquaint children and youngsters with different regions, states, culture, national heroes, monuments, traditions, tourist locations, languages, geography, history, topography etc.

  1. Haryana govt has launched the Uttam Beej Portal for providing quality seeds to farmers.
      • The portal will increase transparency in the process.
  2. On Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, Gujarat government has launched its ‘e-Sarkar’ app on a pilot basis to make administrative works paperless, quick and easy for citizens.
      • The app will be launched in full scale on December 25 i.e., Good Governance Day (birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Bajpayee).
      • The app is integrated with IWDMS (Integrated Workflow and Document Management System) app that was launched by the Gujarat government in 2005 for administrative purposes.
  3. Union Power Minister R K Singh virtually inaugurated the diversion of Marusudar River of Pakal Dul Hydro Electric Project (1,000 MW) in Kishtwar, J&K.
      • The Pakal Dul HE Project is being constructed by Chenab Valley Power Projects Pvt Ltd (CVPPPL), a joint venture company of National Hydro Electric Power Corporation (NHPC) and Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC).
      • Marusudar River is a major tributary of the Chenab River.
  4. Jammu and Kashmir UT has declared Kalij Pheasant as the new UT bird.
      • Hangul is the UT animal.
      • Earlier, black-necked cranes were the UT bird but they are only found in Ladakh. Therefore, the UT bird has been changed.

  1. UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) is organizing the ‘International Seed Conference’ on November 4 and 5 in Rome, Italy.
      • Indian state of Telangana has received invitation to attend the virtual conference.
      • Telangana Seed Corporation Managing Director Dr Keshavulu will address the conference on ‘Quality Seed Production System: A success story of India: Telangana as a seed hub’.
      • He was also asked to co-chair the parallel session entitled ‘Seed enterprise development and international trade.’
      • Representatives, Ministers, scientists and seed experts from 195 countries would participate in the two-day conference.
  2. COP 26 of UNFCCC: –
      • 100 world leaders pledged $19.2 billion – to be pooled from public and private sources – for reversing deforestation by 2030.
  3. G20 Rome Summit: –
      • UN Environment Program (UNEP), in association with European Commission, has launched the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO).
      • IMEO will revolutionize the approach to methane reduction by interconnecting data with action on research, reporting, and regulation.
      • IMEO will accurately collect data on methane emissions. This data will help in formulating precise policies for reducing methane emissions.
      • IMEO will initially focus on methane emissions from the fossil fuel sector (energy sector), and then expand to other major emitting sectors like agriculture and waste.
      • Hosted by UNEP, IMEO’s budget amounts to €100 million over five years. IMEO will help in achieving targets under Global Methane Pledge.
      • Global Methane Pledge – a US and EU-led effort by over ninety countries to reduce methane emissions by 30% by 2030.

  1. World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has released the ‘State of the Global Climate 2021’ report at the COP26 of UNFCCC.
      • 2015-2021 are the warmest years on record due to unprecedentedly high GHG emissions.
      • The global mean temperature for 2021 (based on data from January to September) was about 1.09°C above the 1850-1900 average.
      • Oceans have become acidic because of the absorption of 23% of the annual emissions of anthropogenic (human generated) CO2.
      • The upper 2000m depth of the ocean continued to warm in 2019 reaching a new record high.
      • The mean global mean sea level rise was 2.1 mm per year between 1993 and 2002 and 4.4 mm per year between 2013 and 2021.

  1. SEBI has formed IT Projects Advisory Committee, chaired by Abhay Karandikar (a director at IIT Kanpur), to advise SEBI to utilise advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics and cloud computing.
      • The committee has seven members.
      • SEBI has also reconstituted its 7-member Technical Advisory Committee, which will now be headed by Deepak B Phatak (a former professor of IIT Bombay).
        • This committee recommends measures for changes and improvements in the market structure given the technological changes.
  2. Axis Bank has signed an MoU with Indian Navy to offer its Power Salute – defence salary package services to the Navy personnel.
      • Similar MoU is already in operation with Indian Army.
  3. ICICI Bank has renewed its MoU with Indian Army for offering the Defence Salary Account facilities to the Army personnel.
  4. Indian govt has applied for a loan of $2 billion from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to procure as many as 667 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
      • Of this, ADB would lend $1.5 billion from its Asia Pacific Vaccine Access Facility (APVAX) facility.
      • AIIB will provide $500 million.
  5. SpaceX has incorporated its wholly-owned subsidiary in India to start local broadband operations.
      • SpaceX’s satellite broadband arm Starlink aims to start broadband services in India from December 2022.
      • The name of the subsidiary is ‘Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited’.
  6. Ministry of Finance released new framework for bankers, to be implemented from April 1, 2022.
      • Now, the bona-fide intentions of bank staff, involving a loan amount Rs 50 crores, will be considered and they will not be punished if the loan turns into an NPA.
      • However, the decisions should be with bona-fide intentions.
      • Banks must initiate and complete staff accountability exercise within six months from the date of classification of the account as NPA.
      • The framework divides NPAs into three categories
        • up to Rs 10 lakh
        • Rs 10 lakh – Rs 1 crore
        • Rs 1 crore – Rs 50 crore
