      • Airports Authority of India has engaged NEC Corporation Private Limited for implementing the technology as part of the DigiYatra policy, which seeks to promote paperless air travel and a seamless journey from entering an airport till boarding a plane.
      • The policy was introduced in 2018 but was implemented in 2019.
  2. Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is set to launch the Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas (SRESHTA) scheme for the upliftment and development of scheduled castes students.
      • Purpose – This will help in reducing the dropout of students from classes 9 to 12.
      • Tenure – 2021 to 2026
      • Estimated budget – Rs 300 crores
      • The scheme will focus on the socio-economics upliftment and overall development of the Scheduled Caste students by providing quality residential education to meritorious Scheduled Caste students in reputed private schools, having residential facility.
  3. The President of India has inaugurated the 5th International Ambedkar Conclave, being organised by the Forum of SC and ST Legislators and Parliamentarians and Dr Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce in New Delhi.
  4. Ministry of Culture has announced to introduce 1817 Paika Rebellion in the NCERT history textbook of class 8.
      • Paika Rebellion originated in Odisha against the British Rule in 1817. It continued till 1825 under the leadership of Bakshi Jagabandhu.
  5. India and the EU have agreed to extend their 2016 EU-India Clean Energy and Climate Partnership until 2023.
      • Purpose – to focus on increasing technical cooperation in the area of energy efficiency, renewable energy, cooperation within the International Solar Alliance and green hydrogen.
  6. India has achieved the ambitious target of 40% of installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel sources.
      • Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has announced that total installed non-fossil fuel-based capacity stands at 83 Giga Watts in the country.
      • As a part of its Nationally Determined Contributions, this 40% of its installed electricity capacity from non-fossil energy sources target was to be achieved by 2030.
      • Renewable Energy capacity now stands at 150.05 Giga Watts and nuclear energy-based installed electricity capacity stands at 6.78 Giga Watts.
      • Renewable energy generation target of India is 500 GW by 2030.

      • BlackSky Technology (a US based company) is building a satellite constellation which is capable of providing images of any part of the earth. It is a constellation of 60 satellites.

      • The savings scheme provides a curated set of features, designed to make financial planning and investments easy for women.
  2. State Bank of India (SBI) has signed a co-lending agreement with Adani Capital (NBFC) for co-lending to farmers for purchase of tractors and farm implement.
  3. Paytm has signed an MoU with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to train 6000 individuals over a total period of three years in the rapidly growing Fintech industry.
      • The selected individuals will undertake a six-month programme, designed by Paytm, in consultation with the Directorate General of Training (DGT).
  4. Kotak Mahindra Bank has partnered with Worldline (European Leader in payment and transactional service) to enable EMI payments via Kotak Debit Cards in India.
  5. RBI has released the ‘States Finances: A Study of Budgets of 2021-22’
      • Theme of the report – Coping with the Pandemic: A Third-Tier Dimension
      • Combined Debt-to-GDP ratio of states is expected to remain at 31% by March-end 2022, as same as the level of end-March 2021.
      • The combined debt to GDP ratio of States is worryingly higher than the target of 20% to be achieved by 2022-23.
      • The debt-GDP ratio is expected to peak at 3% in 2022-23.
      • The budgeted Gross Fiscal Deficit (GFD) is 7% of GDP for States for the year 2021-22 – lower than the 4% level as recommended by the 15th Finance Commission.
      • Undertaking power sector reforms will not only facilitate additional borrowings of 25% of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) by the States but also reduce their contingent liabilities due to improvement in financial health of the DISCOMs.
  6. Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved USD 500 million (about Rs 3,752 crore) loan to help the government of India improve the quality of the India’s school education and mitigate the impact of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic on students’ learning.
      • The loan supports the Integrated Scheme for School Education (Samagra Shiksha) and the new Exemplar School Initiative of the Ministry of Education to improve education quality by focusing on inclusive and equitable learning outcomes.
      • About 1,800 government schools will be transformed into exemplar schools in the states of Assam, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, and Uttarakhand.
