  1. India’s first and Asia’s largest Liquid-Mirror Telescope has been established at the Devasthal Observatory campus of Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Devasthal, a hill in Nainital district, Uttarakhand.
      • The telescope has been established in collaboration with Belgium and
      • The novel instrument employs a 4-meter-diameter rotating mirror made up of a thin film of liquid mercury to collect and focus light. It is located at an altitude of 2450 metres.
      • The telescope was designed and built by the Advanced Mechanical and Optical Systems (AMOS) Corporation and the Centre Spatial de Liège in Belgium.
  2. Central Government has approved new guidelines for the central sector scheme “Promotion of MSMEs in North Eastern Region and Sikkim” to enhance productivity and competitiveness.
      • The scheme will be implemented during the 15th finance commission cycle (2021-22 to 2025-26).
      • The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to state governments for setting up new and modernisation of existing mini technology centres.
      • Under the scheme, the projects for creating common facilities to supplement manufacturing, testing, packaging, R&D, product and process innovations and training for natural resources would be given priority.
      • For the development of new and existing industrial estates, government assistance will be 90%. The maximum project cost for calculation of assistance shall be Rs 15 crore for the development of a new industrial estate whereas Rs 10 crore for the development of an existing Industrial Estate.

      • The Misra Centre for Financial Markets and Economy at IIM-A, under which this index is being launched, will host this on its official website and it will be called IIM-Ahmedabad SFarmsIndia Land Price Index (ISALPI).
      • The index will help in benchmarking land prices in rural and semi-urban areas and help in signalling converting agricultural land into real estate.
  5. National Health Authority (NHA) has announced the successful integration of e-Sanjeevani with its flagship scheme – Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
