    1. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved a subsidy of Rs 51,875 crore for phosphatic and potassic (P&K) fertilisers for the second half of 2022-23.

    • The government had in April approved a subsidy of Rs 60,939.23 crore for P&K fertilisers for the first six months (kharif season) of current fiscal year.

        • This ethanol blending programme (EBP) of the Central Govt has been extended to the whole of India except for UTs of Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep islands with effect from April 1, 2019, to promote the use of alternative and environment-friendly fuels.

    1. India has successfully conducted the maiden flight test of Phase-II Ballistic Missile Defence Interceptor AD-1 at Dr Abdul Kalam Island, located off the coast of Odisha.
        • Now, the missile of the 5,000 km range can also be intercepted.
    2. Zojila Day was commemorated at Zojila War Memorial near Drass on November 1 to celebrate the gallant action by Indian troops in ‘Operation Bison’ in 1948 which was launched on the icy heights of Zojila pass, the gateway to Ladakh.
        • Zoji La had been seized by Pakistani raiders in 1948 in their campaign to capture Ladakh.

    1. According to UNESCO, several world heritage sites may become glacier-free by 2050.
        • A survey of 18,600 glaciers at 50 World Heritage Sites found that the glaciers at one-third of these sites will perish because of global warming regardless of the global efforts towards limiting the temperature rise.

        • According to the Factbook, G20 countries have provided nearly $700 billion in subsidies for coal, oil, gas and fossil-fuel industries in 2021.

    1. Private equity major Bain Capital has sold nearly 16.7 million shares, equalling a 0.5% stake in private sector lender Axis Bank.

        • Mastercard is already operating the Mastercard’s Farm Pass.
        • The Mastercard’s Farm Pass is a digital ecosystem platform that works offline, even with feature phones, connecting buyers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and other agriculture ecosystem players with farmers digitally, and helping them get the best value for their produce.
    3. Aegon Life Insurance has launched the iGuarantee Max Savings Plan, which offers a dual benefit of high returns and life cover.
        • The minimum monthly contribution for the plan is Rs 500, can be done online with no paper works, and subscribers could gain higher tax-free returns on their savings.
    4. Bank of Baroda has launched the “Tiranga Plus Fixed Deposit Scheme” with a tenor of 399 days at an interest rate of 6.75% for normal citizens and 7.25% for senior citizens.
        • Under the non-callable fixed deposit option of the same tenure, where premature withdrawal is not allowed, the regular investors will get up to 7% interest rates, whereas senior citizens under this scheme will get 7.50% interest rates.9
    5. Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC has launched Sahyog, an initiative to empower support staff and their families.
        • Sahyog helps an employer to start a systematic investment plan in mutual funds on behalf of the domestic help to achieve their goal.
        • Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance has also partnered with Karza Technologies (part of Perfios Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd.) to launch end-to-end onboarding journey of customers on WhatsApp platform.
        • It will allow customers to select premium amount, term, illustration generation and premium payment within the WhatsApp journey only.
