   • The 5G telephony service was rolled out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 13 cities initially.

   • Purpose – to fund R&D in rural-specific communication technology applications and form synergies among academia, start-ups, research institutes, and the industry to build and develop the telecom ecosystem
   • The scheme is aligned with the new phase of Amrit Kaal, i.e., Jan Anusandhaan.

1. Andhra Pradesh has launched a new scheme named YSR Kalyanamasthu and YSR Tofa.
   • Purpose– to stop child marriages and school dropouts as the minimum eligibility to enroll in the scheme is 18 years of age for girls and 21 years for boys
   • This scheme will provide financial assistance to the beneficiaries.

Defence News

1. Indian Air force has commissioned its MIG-21 squadron named ‘Swordarms’ based in Jammu and Kashmir.
   • This squadron has been replaced by the MIG-29 squadron.
   • Currently, the Indian Air force has three mig 21 squadrons.
2. The seven defence PSUs, which were carved out from the erstwhile ordnance factory board, have projected a sales target of Rs 17000 crores for 2022-23.

2. AK Anil Kumar has been appointed as the vice president of the international astronautical federation.
   • The announcement was made during its Annual Conference International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2022 held in Paris.
   • Founded in 1951, the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) is the world’s leading space advocacy body with 433 members in 72 countries.
   • Kumar is currently serving as the Associate Director, ISTRAC, Bengaluru.
   • Saudi Arabia’s Mishaal Aishemimry has become the first Saudi woman to be appointed as the vice president of this organisation.
