  1. Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has launched the Swachh Bharat Campaign from October 1-31.
      • Union Minister Jitendra Singh has also launched Special Swachhta Campaign 2.0 to reduce pendency in the government departments.
  2. Ministry of Education has launched the YUVA 2.0 (Young, Upcoming and Versatile Authors) scheme for mentoring young authors and to train young and budding authors below the age of 30 to promote reading, writing, and book culture in the country, and project India and Indian writings globally.
      • The theme of the YUVA 2.0 is ‘Democracy (institutions, events, people, constitutional values past, present, future)’.
      • YUVA 2.0 is a part of India@75 Project.
      • The National Book Trust is the implementing agency of this scheme. It will publish the books prepared under the scheme.
      • The books will be translated into other Indian languages ensuring the exchange of culture and literature, thereby promoting ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.
  3. University Grants Commission has established the post of Professor of Practice to hire experts from various sectors, who have experience of 15 years of service.
      • A professor of practice can be anyone with a background in a diverse range of areas from technology, science, social sciences, media, literature, armed forces, law, fine arts, etc.
  4. According to a study by the Jal Shakti Ministry, 8% of the rural households in the country receive water only once a week, while about 74% of them receive it all seven days.
      • About 4% of households receive water for 5-6 days in a week and 14% receive at least 3-4 days in a week in India.
  5. Fit India Freedom Run 3.0 took place at the Major Dhyanchand National Stadium in New Delhi from October 2-31.
      • The third edition was jointly launched with a Fit India Plog Run by Union Minister of Law and Justice, Shri Kiren Rijiju and Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Anurag Singh Thakur.

  1. Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel has launched the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Parks (MGRIP) scheme to develop ‘gauthans’ (cow shelters) as rural industrial parks for livelihood generation.
      • The state government has already set up gauthans in over 8,000 villages under its flagship scheme Suraji Gaon Yojana (village good governance scheme).
      • Cow dung procurement is being carried out in these gauthans at ₹2 per kilogram under Godhan Nyaya Yojana and the dung is being used to prepare vermi-compost.
  2. Punjab Legislative Assembly has passed the Punjab State Vigilance Commission (Repeal) Bill, 2022 to dissolve the state vigilance commission.
      • The main function of the commission was to inquire into complaints against public servants under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, and Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

      • The white shipping information refers to the exchange of prior information on the movement and identity of commercial non-military merchant vessels.
  2. The first batch of indigenously-developed Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) named “Prachand” has been inducted into the Indian Air Force.
      • It has been manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
