  1. Launched in June 2020, the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme has completed two years.
  2. National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) have entered into a first-of-its-kind agreement with DB India for the comprehensive operation and maintenance of the 82 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor for a period of 12 years.

  1. Launched in June 2020, the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme has completed two years.
      • Journey of the Scheme –
        • Union Bank of India is the nodal bank.
        • The digital GIS One District One Product (ODOP) map of India was launched to provide details of ODOPs of all the States and UTs.
        • National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Kundli (NIFTEM-K) and the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Thanjavur (NIFTEM-T) have been providing capacity building training.
        • 75 Incubation Centres have been approved under the scheme.
        • Ministry in collaboration with the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Thanjavur (NIFTEM-T) has also developed an online portal for submission of Incubation Centre proposals and a digital map for the facilitation of details of Incubation Centres across the country.
        • Financial support of 40,000 is given for working capital and purchase of small tools for each member of the Self-Help Group (SHG) engaged in food processing activities.
        • Over 1 lakh SHG members have been identified and the seed capital amount of Rs. 203 Cr. has been released so far.
        • As of now, 2 State-level brands have been successfully launched, including the brand “AASNAA” from Punjab and the brand “BHIMTHADI” from of Maharashtra.

  1. Kerala government has announced to implement a medical insurance scheme for government employees and pensioners.
      • MEDISEP scheme is applicable to government employees, pensioners/family pensioners and their eligible family members and employees and pensioners of universities that receive grant in aid from the state government and the local self-government institutions.

Agriculture and Rural Development

  1. India’s exports of marine products in 2021-22 have reached a record high at USD 7.76 billion, an improvement of 30.26%.
      • In rupee terms, the export improved by 31.71%.
      • In terms of quantity the exports improved by 19.12%.
      • India had exported 11,49,510 MT of seafood worth Rs 43,720.98 crore.
      • Frozen shrimp remained the major export item in terms of quantity and value.
  2. Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district has received the GI tag for Kai Chutney.

      • Around 284 million people aged 15-64 used drugs worldwide in 2020, a 26% increase over the previous decade.
      • Women now represent an estimated 45-49% of users of amphetamines and non-medical users of pharmaceutical stimulants, pharmaceutical opioids, sedatives, and tranquilizers.
