        • Candidates should be between the ages of 18 and 35.
        • They must have a bachelor’s, diploma, or degree in any field from an accredited institution.

      • A notice posted on the National Scholarship Portal stated that this is being done in line with the pre-matric scholarship scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
      • The Ministry had allocated Rs 1,425 crore for pre-matric scholarships for 2022-23 to minority students.
  4. Intellectual Property charges have been increased under the Start-Ups Intellectual Property Protection (SIPP) scheme.
      • In addition to above scheme, IP filling by startups are also encouraged by providing with fee rebates under respective IP legislations.
      • Startups are provided 80% fee rebate in filing patent applications and 50% fee rebate in filling trademark application. In addition, there are also provisions for fast-track examination of patent applications.

  1. International Labour Organization has released the “Global Wage Report 2022-23”.
      • Subtitle – The impact of inflation and COVID-19 on wages and purchasing power
      • The report estimates that global monthly wages fell in real terms to 0.9% in the first half of 2022.
      • This is the first negative global wage growth recorded since the first edition of the Global Wage Report in 2008.
      • Among the G20 countries, which account for some 60% of the world’s wage employees, real wages in the first half of 2022 are estimated to have declined to –2.2% in advanced economies, while wage growth in emerging economies slowed but remained positive at 0.8%.
      • The average wages of advanced G20 countries is $4,000 per month and for emerging G20 countries, it is $1,800 per month.
      • 17th International Labour Organization Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting was recently organized in Singapore.

  1. United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has released the “Turning the tide on internal displacement: A development approach to solutions” report.
      • According to the report, for the first time ever, more than 100 million people were forcibly displaced in 2022, most of them within their own countries.
      • At the end of 2021, there were over 59 million people forcibly displaced within their own countries due to conflict, violence, disasters and climate change.
      • According to the World Bank, climate change could force more than an estimated 216 million people to move within their own countries by 2050.

  1. 2022 New Energy Outlook report has been released by BloombergNEF to keep the temperature increase to 77 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels by 2050.
      • The report has provided certain recommendations for limiting the temperature increase to 1.77 degrees Celsius –
        • Emissions need to fall by 30% by 2030 and by 6% a year to 2040.
        • Investments in the clean energy sector must triple to reach Net Zero by 2050.
        • About 25% of total emissions can be reduced using low-carbon electricity in the transport sector and industrial processes.
        • The rest of the emissions can be reduced by hydrogen and carbon capture and storage (CCS).
          • CCS is the process of using technology to capture carbon emissions from industrial processes or power generation, from where it is transported and stored underground for posterity.

  1. RBI has launched the pilot project for operationalising the Central Bank Digital Currency (e₹-R) in retail mode, after its successful implementation at the wholesale level.
      • In the first phase, the retail e-rupee pilot project has been launched in four cities of Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Bhubaneswar on December 1.
      • Four banks are controlling the launch of the retail e-rupee – SBI, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank and IDFC First Bank.
      • Future launch – Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kochi, Lucknow, Patna, and Shimla, in collaboration with Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, HDFC Bank, and Kotak Mahindra Bank
      • The e₹-R will be issued in the same denominators as paper currency and coins and distributed via banks.

      • The chatbot is based on GPT-3.5 – a deep-learning language model that produces human-like text.
  2. Bharti Airtel and Meta Platforms Inc. have announced to jointly invest in extending the Facebook parent’s subsea cable infrastructure to India
      • Both organizations will also work to integrate WhatsApp as a communications platform as a service (CPaaS).
      • Airtel will partner with Meta and Saudi Telecom to extend 2Africa Pearls, the subsea cable set up by Meta that connects Africa, Europe and Asia, to India.
      • 2Africa is the world’s longest subsea cable system and is expected to provide faster internet connectivity to almost 3 billion people globally.
  3. Central Government is planning to allow businesses to use their Permanent Account Number (PAN) as a unique identifier for accessing the National Single Window System (NSWS) to receive different clearances and approvals from central and state governments.
      • The National Single Window System (NSWS) is being developed by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) as a one-stop shop for investors to apply for various approvals from central and state governments.
  4. Edelweiss Mutual Fund has announced the launch of the fourth tranche of BHARAT Bond ETF – India’s first corporate bond ETF (exchange-traded fund).
      • A central government initiative, Bharat Bond ETF invests only in ‘AAA’-rated bonds of public sector companies.
      • Edelweiss Asset Management is the fund manager of the scheme.
      • This latest tranche of the ETF and BHARAT Bond Fund of Fund (FoF) series will mature in April 2033.
      • Through the launch of this new series, Edelweiss Mutual Fund proposes to raise an initial amount of ₹1,000 crore with a green shoe option of another ₹4,000 crore.

  2. State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest lender, has raised ₹10,000 crore through its maiden infrastructure bond issuance at coupon rate of 7.51%.
      • It is the largest single infrastructure bond issued by any Bank in the country.
