    • 3 Letters of Intent (LoI) have been exchanged between Meta and key institutions, namely the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
    • Within the next three years, Meta plans to train 500,000 entrepreneurs in digital marketing through its partnership with NIESBUD.
        • NIESBUD is a premier organization of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, engaged in training, consultancy, research and publication in order to promote entrepreneurship and Skill Development.

    • The Mission aims to enhance the capabilities of faculty members in higher educational institutions.
    • The program will work towards building the capacities of 15 lakh teachers in higher education institutions (HEIs) across India.
    • It will establish 111 Malaviya Mission centres throughout the country to ensure widespread coverage.
    • The program aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
    • The training program will focus on 8 thematic areas-

  4. Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has unveiled the G20 Tourism and Sustainable Development Goals Dashboard.
      • The dashboard will serve as a comprehensive online public platform, amalgamating the collective knowledge of the G20 Tourism Working Group.
      • It consolidates survey results, case studies, and best practices from G20 countries.

    1. Chief Minister Himachal Pradesh (HP) has launched Mukhya Mantri Sporting Abilities, Rebuilding Aspirations and Livelihood Scheme (SABAL) from Nadaun in district Hamirpur, HP during the event jointly organized by Sarv Shiksha Abhiyanand Sampark Foundation.
        • The scheme intends to improve the lives of specially-abled children in the state by integrating them into the mainstream.

About the scheme

        • The State Government plans to support approximately 400 schools in Hamirpur, Solan, and Shimla districts to provide essential facilities and opportunities to specially-abled children.
        • They have also allocated a 2% reservation in government jobs for such individuals. The education stipend for specially-abled children will increase to 1000.
        • The HP government envisages to empower more than 7,000 specially-abled children in HP.

  1. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the inclusion of pre-sanctioned credit lines as funding accounts in Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
    • This will be applicable to Scheduled Commercial Banks, excluding Payment Banks, Small Finance Banks, and Regional Rural Banks.
    • Before this expansion, UPI only allowed linking of savings accounts, overdraft accounts, prepaid wallets, and credit cards.
        • Now, payments through these pre-sanctioned credit lines, issued by Scheduled Commercial Banks to individuals, can be made through the UPI system with the prior consent of the individual customers.
    • Banks can establish terms and conditions for the use of these credit lines, including credit limits, credit periods, interest rates, in accordance with their board-approved policies.

  3. Indian Bank Limited has collaborated with IBMfor the deployment of innovative front-end banking applications.
    • The Collaboration is a part of Indian Bank’s initiative Project PARADISE(Performance Augmentation by Resource Aggregation in Distributed Environment).
    • The collaboration aims to accelerate the bank’s modernisation path with flexible and secure infrastructure for deploying new front-end banking applications, while addressing the business growth of the Core Banking Solution workloads of the bank.

  1. Assessment Report on Invasive Alien Species (IAS) and their Control (Invasive Alien Species Report) has been released.
    • Published by: Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)
    • IAS are plants, animals, pathogens and other organisms that are non-native to an ecosystem, and which may cause economic, environmental harm or adversely affect human health.
        • All Alien species are not invasive species.

    Key highlights of the report

    • 37,000 alien species have been introduced out of which 3,500 are invasive alien species.
    • Invasive species: One of the major drivers for bio-diversity loss
        • The other four are land and sea use change, direct exploitation of organisms, climate change, and pollution.
    • Play a key role in 60% of global plant and animal extinctions, damage by IAS accounts global economy losses exceeding $423bn annually in 2019.
    • Response of countries
        • In December 2022, governments have agreed to reduce the rate of introduction and establishment of invasive alien species by at least 50% by 2030under target 6 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
