  2. Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has launched ‘Chup mat baitho’ (don’t sit quietly), an integrated consumer connect initiative to raise awareness about misleading advertisements.
      • The ASCI will have posts on social media sites about relevant topics and a call to action, urging consumers to report advertisements that are offensive, misleading, and also tell them how to go about it.
      • According to ASCI’s Trust in Advertising Report 2020, only 10% of consumers who come across misleading advertisements report them.
  3. Minister of Ayush, Shri Kiren Rijiju, has launched five important portals on Ayush sector as well as four publications related to the Traditional Indian Medicine System of India.
Portals:
A) CTRI
• It stands for Clinical Trials Registry India.
• CTRI is a primary Register of Clinical Trials under the World Health Organization’s International Clinical Trials Registry Platform.
• The platform will also record clinical study based on Ayurveda interventions
B) AMAR
• It stands for Ayush Manuscripts Advanced Repository portal.
• This Portal has digitized information on rare and hard to find manuscripts and catalogues of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa.
C) RMIS
• It stands for Research Management Information System.
• It is a collaborative effort of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS).
• This portal will be a one stop solution for Research and Development in Ayurveda based studies.
• Free of cost research guidance by experienced Scientists, Clinicians of Ayurveda can be availed through this portal. Research tools, reference material are also in place in this portal.
D) SAHI
• It stands for Showcase of Ayurveda Historical Imprints.
• This portal showcases inscriptions, Archeo-botanical Information, Sculptures, Philological sources and advanced Archeo Genetic studies.
• This portal will be of tremendous use in understanding of Indian Knowledge system with a focus on indigenous health care practices.
E) e-Medha
• It stands for Electronic Medical Heritage Accession.
• This portal provides online access to public for more than 12000 Indian medical heritage books through National Informatics Centre’s (NIC) e-granthalaya platform.
  • Four publications: 
      • Proceedings of International workshop on” Preservation and Promotion of SOWA-RIGPA in Asia
      • Compendium of Important Cereals mentioned in Ayurveda-Series-1, volume-1
      • Ayurveda Sangraha: An important classical textbook of Ayurveda which is mentioned in the Schedule 1 of Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940. Till now, this book was available in Bengali language. Now it has been transliterated to Devanagari Script.
      • Pathapathya Vinishcaya– An important book of Ayurveda and has details of diet and lifestyle.
    1. Tech Mahindra Ltd. has partnered with StaTwig (a Singapore- and Hyderabad-based digital supply chain solutions provider) to launch ‘VaccineLedger’ globally.
        • This is a blockchain-based traceability solutions for global vaccine delivery, predict and prevent failures in supply chains, including problems related to expired vaccines, stockouts and counterfeiting.
  • State News

    1. 52nd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be held in Goa from November 20-28.
        • The Directorate of Film Festivals will organise the mega event in a hybrid format —virtual and physical —in collaboration with the Goa government and the Indian Film Industry.
        • As a tribute to Satyajit Ray on his 100th birth anniversary, ‘Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Cinema’ has been instituted from this year to be given at the IFFI.

    3. Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has approved the conversion of the Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary in Rajasthan’s Bundi district into the fourth tiger reserve in the state.
        • Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary will link Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in the Northeast & Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve on the southern side.
        • Sariska Tiger Reserve is the third tiger reserve of Rajasthan.

    Agriculture and Rural Development

    1. National Commodity Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) has launched two agriculture-focused commodity indices NCDEX Guarex and NCDEX Soydex.
        • NCDEX expects to launch futures trading in these indices soon.
        • Guarex will track price movement in the futures contracts of its underlying Guar Seed and Guar Gum Refined Splits on a real-time basis.
        • Soydex will follow the price changes in futures contracts of Soybean and Refined Soy Oil.
        • This is the first return based agricultural futures index in agriculture commodities.
        • The new indices will offer trading and risk management opportunities for value chain participants.
        • The weightage of Guar Seed and Guar Gum Refined Splits in Guarex will be 63.43% and 36.57%. In Soydex, Soybean and Refined Soy Oil will have the weightage of 67.92% and 32.08%.
        • These indices provide better options for hedgers who are seeking low-cost options for hedging.
      NCDEX AGRIDEX:
        • Last May, the NCDEX launched Agridex which had given over 40% return in last one year.
        • NCDEX AGRIDEX is India’s first return based agricultural futures Index which tracks the performance of the ten liquid commodities traded on NCDEX platform.
        • The NCDEX AGRIDEX serves as a benchmark for the performance of the underlying commodities.
        • The index has been developed by NCDEX and NSE Indices Ltd.

    Memorandum of Understanding

    1. Indian Economic Trade Organization has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Libyan African Business council during the Financial Investment Trade Africa (FITA 2021) event held in Tunis, Tunisia.
        • The MOC broadly focuses on deepening engagements between business structures of both countries and will work closely in the field of IT development, Healthcare, MRO support in the aerospace sector, and support the academic institutions by collaborating with the Indian skill sector.
        • Libya also suggested hosting The Libya India Trade Forum in November 2021, in Tripoli.
    2. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has signed an MoU with the Advertising Standard Council of India (ASCI) to safeguard consumers against misleading claims in food and beverage (F&B) advertisements.
        • As per the agreement, ASCI will identify advertisements which prima facie violate provisions of Food Safety And Standards (Advertising And Claims) Regulations, 2018, and FSSAI would further investigate these.
        • Also, the ASCI will set up a three-member expert panel to evaluate F&B advertising identified by the ASCI monitoring team.

      Additional Fact:
        • As per a report published by media agency Zenith, India will be the fastest-growing market for FMCG brands’ F&B advertising over the next three years with spending rising 14% a year.
        • With the rise in digital consumption, it is expected that FMCG brands’ digital ad spends will increase from $12.3 billion in 2020 to $14.9 billion in 2023.

    1. Israeli defence company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has unveiled Sea Breaker, a 5th generation long range, autonomous, precision-guided missile system meant to hit high-value maritime and land targets.
        • Sea Breaker missile system can fire from both land and sea.
        • It has stand-off ranges of up to 300 km.
        • Sea Breaker has full operational capability in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-denied areas, in all weather conditions.
        • India’s BrahMos is similar to the Sea Breaker.

    1. Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have released the “OECD‑FAO Agricultural Outlook 2021‑2030” report.
        • As per the report, prices of food commodities are set to decline in 2021-30 due to increase in productivity.
        • Global targets on reducing hunger and CO2 emission are not expected to be met by 2030.
        • This is an annual report that states the prospects of agriculture commodities and fish markets at national, regional, and global level.
        • China will be the driver of growth in agricultural products.
        • Agriculture will lead to a 4% increase in overall GHG emissions during 2021-30. Livestock will account for 80% of this increase.
        • The average global food availability per person is expected to grow by 4% during 2021-30. This will reach just over 3025 kcal/ day in 2030.
        • Additional efforts are needed to achieve the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommended net intake of 400g of fruits and vegetables per person per day.

    2. HDFC Bank has launched Salaam Dil Sey initiative to show gratitude to doctors for their tireless service during the pandemic.
        • The initiative is encouraging all people to honour the contribution of doctors and providing a platform to express gratitude to the doctors.
        • As part of this campaign, the Bank has created a web platform www.salaamdilsey.com where general public can log on to a microsite to send gratitude messages to doctors.
        • The Bank has also honoured the renowned Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic surgeon Padma Bhushan winner Dr Naresh Trehan through virtual medium.
        • On the National Doctors Day (July 1), the Bank launched the ‘Wall of Dedication’ in front of the Corporate Office of HDFC Bank in Worli (Mumbai) where a collage of thank you messages for doctors from across the country will be displayed.
        • National Doctors’ Day is observed to commemorate the birth and death anniversary of former Bengal’s Chief Minister Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. The 2021 theme of the day is Save The Saviours.
    3. FlexiLoans has collaborated with Google Pay to offer fast and flexible loans to small and medium enterprises.
        • The collaboration will address the credit gap by offering instant loans to small merchants and entrepreneurs across India who are unable to access formal credit.
        • FlexiLoans is aiming at disbursing loans to over 50,000 small businesses in the next 12 months from this collaboration.
    4. HDFC Bank Ltd has partnered with fintech company Creditas Solutions to offer a guided and customized debt management solution for its loan and credit card customers.
        • The platform enables customers to access their credit account information in real-time, on any device, and also streamline and enable the repayment process, allowing further flexibility to pay when and how they choose.
    5. Central govt has proposed to sell 4% of its stake in National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) via offer for sale.
        • NMDC was incorporated in 1958 as a fully owned public enterprise under the administrative control of the Ministry of Steel, Government of India.

    1. Union MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Khadi Prakritik Paint.
        • He would promote the paint across the country and encourage young entrepreneurs to take up the manufacturing of the cow dung paint.
        • The govt has a target of setting up a parkritik paint unit in each and every village.
        • The new plant for producing this paint has been set up in the campus of Kumarappa National Handmade Paper Institute, Jaipur.
        • Currently, the daily production of the paint is 500 litres which will go up to 1,000 litres per day.
        • Available in two variants, Distemper and Emulsion; Khadi Prakritik Paint contains ‘AshtaLaabh’ — eight benefits like anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and natural thermal insulation properties.
