      • Currently, the 11-member committee is chaired by corporate affairs secretary Tarun Bajaj.
      • Tasks of the committee – examining and making recommendations to the government on various issues related to implementation of the Companies Act and Limited Liability Partnership Act.

      • The cities included in the list can benefit greatly from the exchange of ideas and solutions for development with other cities.
      • A total of 77 cities from 44 countries have joined the UNESCO GLC.

      • In Primary Schools, the pupil teacher ratio, which was at 43 in 2010-11, has come down to 3 in 2020- 21.
      • In Upper Primary schools, the pupil-teacher ratio has reduced from 33 in 2010-11 to 9 in 2020-21.
      • The Pupil Teacher Ratio at different levels of education show availability of adequate number of teachers for teaching children enrolled at different grade.

      • The existing national policy on cooperatives was formulated in 2002 for facilitating all-round development of cooperatives.
      • At present, India has around 8.5 lakh cooperative societies with a member base of around 29 crore.
  2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have virtually unveiled Unit-I of the Maitree Super Thermal Power Project in Bangladesh.
      • Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is on a visit to New Delhi.
      • The project is being constructed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) for Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Private Limited (BIFPCL).
      • The Unit-II of this power plant, also known as the Rampal coal-fired power project, is expected to get operationalized next year.
      • A total of 7 agreements were signed.
        • MOU – Prasar Bharati and Bangladesh Television on cooperation in the field of broadcasting
        • An agreement on water sharing from the Kushiyara River (a distributary river in Assam and Bangladesh)
        • MOU – For Training of Bangladesh Railway Employees in the Training Institute of Indian Railways

      • Bangladesh and India share an over 4,000 kilometre long international border. The five states of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and West Bengal share border with Bangladesh.

    • SETU aims to encourage domestic incorporation and mentorship of early-stage Indian start-ups by successful diaspora members in USA.
    • The initiative would connect startups in India to US-based investors and startup ecosystem leaders with mentorship and assistance in various areas, including funding, market access and commercialisation.
    • The interaction between the stakeholders will be supported through the mentorship portal under the Startup India initiative MAARG (Mentorship, Advisory, Assistance, Resilience, and Growth) programme, which is a single-stop solution finder for startups in India.

      • Under the scheme, which has been conceptualized to address the increasing stress on groundwater and to improve the depleting groundwater table, a target has been set to harvest 373.52 crore litres of water in five years.
      • The state government has targeted to spend Rs 51.75 crore in 2022-23 and Rs 54.56 crore each in the remaining four year till 2026-27.

      • People from the age group of 18 to 60 are eligible for the scheme.
      • The state government has allocated Rs 800 crore for the scheme.
