  1. Apparel Export Promotion Council has launched Apparel Industry Sustainability Action (AISA) 2022–2023.
      • Purpose – for evaluating the existing status of the Indian garment industry, encouraging wider penetration of sustainability measures amongst MSMEs, hand-holding them with demonstrations and solutions, and enhancing the brand visibility of sustainable companies on a global platform
      • Global garment production is expected to increase by 63% by 2030.
  2. The central govt is planning to set up a comprehensive database of drug formulations manufactured and marketed in the country to strengthen the monitoring mechanism and plug loopholes in the regulatory system.
      • The government has constituted a 7-member expert panel to prepare a ‘National Drugs Database’ which will list the information on the drug, its manufacturer or marketer, dosage forms and strengths.
      • The Ministry of Health is already operating ‘Sugam’, an index of drug licenses issued to companies by state FDAs, while drug prices regulator NPPA separately collects data on companies for price control.

      • The Ministry of Home Affairs has planned to set up a web-archive at the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
      • The NIC and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) will be documenting and preserving the linguistic data of the surveyed mother tongues in audio-video files.
      • According to the 2011 linguistic census, Hindi is the most widely spoken mother tongue, with 52.8 crore people or 43.6 per cent of the population declaring it as the mother tongue.
      • The next highest is Bengali, mother tongue for 9.7 crore individuals, and accounting for 8 per cent of the population.
      • According to the 2011 linguistic census data, more than 19,500 languages or dialects are spoken as mother tongues in India.

      • The new find has increased the species of honeybees in the world to 11.
      • The distribution of Indian black honeybee ranges from the central Western Ghats and Nilgiris to the southern Western Ghats, covering the States of Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and parts of Tamil Nadu.
      • Until now, there are three species of cavity-nesting honey bees in India, namely Apis indica, Apis cerana, and Apis karinjodian.

          • According to the report, women amass only 74% of the wealth that men have at the stage of retirement.
          • Women are at a considerable disadvantage in the accumulation of wealth at the end of their careers.
  • The average global Wealth Equity Index across the 39 markets included in the analysis is 74.
  • Six markets included in the analysis have a higher wealth index at retirement for women compared to the global average, and among them are China (78%), Japan (82%), the Philippines (79%) and Singapore (79%).
  • Region-wise scores –
  • India has the worst gender wealth gap in the Asia-Pacific region. The gender wealth gap is the largest in India at 64%.
  • Opportunities for women in leadership positions are also limited, with only 3% of women in the workforce occupying senior positions.
