      • At the conference, the Minister announced that the govt is going to set up a multistate export house to enable cooperatives to brand and export items.
      • A multi-state cooperative for the marketing and certification of organic products and seed culture will be formed in the next 2 months.
      • Currently, there are 65,000 active Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and the government has decided to establish 3 lakh PACS in the next 5 years.
  9. Central Government has announced to set up 300 cargo terminals under the PM Gati Shakti framework over next 4-5 years to reduce the logistics cost by a huge margin and attract more cargo to railways.
      • These terminals will reduce logistics cost by 2-3%.
      • The logistics cost by road transport accounts for 17-18% of total GDP.
      • Road accidents and deaths have reduced by 50% before the end of 2024.
  10. Union Cabinet has revised the long-term lease policy for the industrial use of the Railways’ land.
      • The new policy will see the Railways’ land licensing fee coming down to 1.5%, from the current 6% of the market value of the land.
      • The lease period has been extended to 35 years from five years now.
      • NITI Aayog had previously recommended that the Railway land leasing fee for containers should be kept below 3%.

Agriculture and Rural Development

  1. Govt has imposed a 20% export duty on non-basmati rice.
      • The government has also banned the export of broken rice with an aim to increase domestic availability.
      • India, the world’s second-largest rice producer after China, accounts for the 40% share in the global trade.
      • The country exported 2 million tonne of rice in 2021-22, of which 3.94 million tonne were basmati rice. It exported non-basmati rice worth USD 6.11 billion in the same period.

  1. National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has signed an MOU each with the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.
      • Purpose – to offer world-class management education through entrepreneurial programs targeted towards youth and job seeking entrepreneurs

      • Mutual Recognition of Qualifications aims to promote academic collaboration and student mobility.

  1. HDFC Bank has launched its “Bank on Wheels” service in Gujarat to increase accessibility.
  2. Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has given the direct insurance broking licence to Lord’s Mark Insurance Broking Pvt Ltd, the insurance division of Lord’s Mark Industries.
      • The company will be selling life and general insurance products.
      • Lords Mark Insurance Broking will be launching life and general insurance products on its platform called Policy King.
      • Policy King will offer its customers facilities to compare all available insurance offers apart from assistance and expert guidance to choose the right life insurance, term life insurance, health insurance, motor insurance, etc.
  3. The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has launched the New Pension Plus plan which allows young people to set aside money for their retirement.
      • This unit-linked, non-participating individual pension plan helps build corpus through systematic and disciplined saving, which can then be converted into regular income by purchasing an annuity plan upon term completion.
      • This plan can be purchased either as Single Premium or Regular Premium payment frequency.
      • The guaranteed addition on regular premiums ranges from 5% to 15.5%, and on single Premiums, up to 5% is payable at the end of a specific policy year.
  4. WAAREE, India’s largest Solar Panel manufacturer, has entered into an agreement with SBI for availing unsecured financing for solar projects through Surya Shakti Solar Finance Scheme.
      • SBI will be providing working capital for Channel Partners under EDFS (Electronic dealer finance scheme).
  5. Axis Bank has partnered with Paynearby to grow its priority sector lending (PSL).
      • Paynearby works with corporates to help them make headways into semi-urban and rural markets.
      • The tie-up will give Axis Bank access to more than 50 lakh micro retailers.
  6. Agribazaar, a private sector electronic agri-mandi, has launched ‘Agribazaar Kisan Safalta Card’.
      • ‘Kisan Safalta’ card is a quick and hassle-free instrument that helps farmers meet their pre- and post-harvest farm requirements and allied expenses.
      • With this card, farmers can avail the financing facility, when required. The funding is restricted to buying farm inputs.
      • Range of the card is ₹10,000 to ₹50,000.
  7. RBI has put out an alert list of 34 entities involved in forex transactions on unauthorized electronic trading platforms this week under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA).
      • The list includes the entities which are neither authorised to deal in forex nor authorised to operate electronic trading platforms for forex transactions on its website.
  8. Adani Group has announced to construct three Giga factories to produce solar panels, wind turbines, and hydrogen electrolyzers as part of a USD 70 billion investment in sustainable energy by 2030.
      • This would add 45 GW of renewable energy capacity to Adani Group’s current 20 GW capacity, as well as 3 million tonnes of hydrogen by 2030.
  9. Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance has also announced a plan to set up a fifth giga factory for power electronics.
      • Last year, Reliance announced a plan to invest over Rs 750 billion to build four giga factories at Jamnagar to produce solar cells and modules, energy storage batteries, fuel cells and green hydrogen.
      • The Group has set an ambitious target to become a net carbon zero company by 2035.
  10. Reliance Brands has entered into a long-term franchise agreement with Balenciaga (France based luxury fashion brand) to introduce the luxury brand in the Indian market.
