  2. Delhi Government launched the ‘Shramik Mitra’ scheme to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach construction workers in the national capital.
      • A total of 800 ‘Shramik Mitras‘ will reach the construction workers at their doorstep and inform them about the schemes launched by the Delhi government in the interest of the workers.
      • There are at least 3-4 Shramik Mitras in all the wards who can help the construction workers.
  3. Assam’s Inland Water Transport (IWT) department has signed an MoU with the World Bank for a Rs 770 crore loan to improve river transportation in the state.
      • The central government would refund 80% of the sanctioned amount and the state government would bear the remaining 20%.
  4. Deocha-Pachami Coal Mine Project has been inaugurated in Birbhum district, West Bengal.
      • West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a compensation package of ₹10,000 crore for the ones who would get displaced or affected in some way or the other due to the project.
  5. Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, virtually inaugurated the Kisan Bhawan and Beekeeper Conference at the Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland.
      • Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland was established under the Central Sector Scheme of the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
  6. Additional Facts:

      • To promote the honey production in India, the Central govt has spent Rs 500 crores on Honey Mission, till now.
      • The production of honey in the country in 2020-21 has increased to 1.25 lakh metric tonnes from 76,150 metric tonnes in 2013-14.
      • The export of honey in the year 2020-21 has increased to about 60 thousand metric ton from 28 thousand metric tons in the year 2013-14.

  1. The Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. (MDL) has delivered the fourth Scorpene Submarine of Project P-71 to the Indian Navy – INS Vela.
      • INS Kalvari, Khanderi, and Karanja are the previous three submarines.
      • The fifth submarine in the series, INS Vagir, is also in the trial stage.

International News

  1. Japan has launched a small, low-cost Epsilon rocket carrying nine satellites.
      • Among the satellites, the rocket carried RAISE 2 spacecraft, built Mitsubishi Electric Corp. and DRUMS satellite.
  2. At the COP 26 of UNFCCC, developing countries demanded that developed countries should mobilise $1.3 trillion to climate financing by 2030.
      • This demand was put forth by a group of 24 nations that call themselves Like Minded Developing Countries (LMDCs), as well as countries from Africa.
      • India is part of the LMDC grouping along with China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iran, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and others.
      • Adaptation Fund, which is meant to finance adaptation projects in developing countries, raised a record breaking amount at the UNFCCC.
  3. COP 26 of UNFCCC –
      • A global coalition of ten organisations launched the Global Resilience Index Initiative (GRII) on UNFCCC CoP 26 adaptation day (8th November 2021).
      • Purpose – GRII will assess the resilience of countries against climate risks.
        • It will provide information to different sectors of the global economy about the need and value (in quantitative terms) of building climate resilience and the costs of doing nothing.
      • Benefits – GRII will create a universal model for assessing the disaster vulnerability. This, in turn, will help policymakers in prioritising the climate policies. Investors will also be able to use this reference index to invest their money in climate projects and others for getting optimal output.
        • This will reduce the gap in direct investment and aid where they are needed the most.
      • Components of GRII –
        • Corporate climate risk disclosure.
        • National adaptation planning and reporting.
        • Planning of pre-arranged humanitarian finance.

  4. COP 26 of UNFCCC –
      • India, in collaboration with Netherlands, has launched the Mission Integrated Biorefineries under Mission Innovation.
      • Under the Mission Integrated Biorefineries, research, start-ups, international collaborations will be strengthened in the area of renewable fuels, chemicals, and materials for a low-carbon future.
      • India also launched “e-Amrit” (Accelerated e-Mobility Revolution for India’s Transportation) portal for electric vehicles.
        • The portal will bust the myths around the adoption of EVs, their purchase, investment opportunities, policies, subsidies, etc. in India.
        • The portal has been developed and hosted by NITI Aayog.
        • It has been launched as a part of UK –India joint roadmap 2030.
