        • It will reduce malnutrition through Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Nutrition 2.0.
        • The protocol clearly describes the process of assessing and caring for malnourished children through the Anganwadi and medical ecosystem.

      • Under the scheme, students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) will be provided with high quality school education by different methods.
      • Implementing agencies – selected grant-in-aid institutions run by NGOs and residential high schools offering high-quality education
      • Provision of Schooling under CBSE/State Board Affiliated Private Residential School-
        • Meritorious students will get admission in selected private schools of CBSE and State Boards.
        • These students will be selected through the National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA (NETS), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
        • Selected students will be admitted to private residential schools in the 9th and 11th grades, enabling them to complete their education up to the 12th standard.
      • Eligibility-
        • Around 3000 SC students with parents’ annual income up to Rs 5 lakh are selected annually based on their merit.
      • Benefits-
        • For the students taking admission under this scheme, their entire fee including school fees (tuition fees) and hostel fees (mess charges) will be waived off.
        • Admissible fees for each class are specified as follows- 9th: 1,00,000, 10th: 1,10,000, 11th: 1,25,000, 12th: 1,35,000.

  5. Tamil Nadu government announced a new Samadhan Scheme for the settlement of the pending tax dues under the erstwhile Tamil Nadu Value Added Tax and other legacy tax legislations.
      • The scheme has classified the tax dues under five broad categories —
        • ₹50,000 and below,
        • above ₹50,000 to ₹10 lakh,
        • above ₹10 lakh to ₹1 crore,
        • above ₹1 crore to ₹10 crore and
        • above ₹10 crore.
      • The new scheme offers a complete waiver of tax arrears, interest, and penalty if the total tax arrears for an assessment year is below ₹50,000, and this is for every assessment year.
      • For the tax dues that fall in the category of ₹50,000-₹10 lakh, traders can just pay 20% of the dues or by paying a portion of the tax, interest, and fine to settle the disputes once and for all.
      • In the other three categories, traders could pay the mentioned portion of the tax, interest, and fine and move out.

  3. European Union has approved world’s first green bond standard to avoid greenwashing.
      • The new standards will help investors to pick sustainable companies and avoid greenwashing or misleading climate-friendly claims.
      • These new voluntary standards will initiate the use of ‘European Green Bond label’, which are first of its kind globally.
      • How will this work?
        • Companies who want to label their bonds as “green” in EU would have to disclose information about how bonds proceeds would be used.
        • At least, 85% of funds raised would have to be allocated to activities in line with EU’s “taxonomy” of sustainable activities.
        • Also, firms would have to show that how these investments are made for transition to a net zero carbon emission economy.
      • These standards set up a registration system and a supervisory framework for external reviewers of European green bond.

  3. SEBI has created a centralised mechanism for reporting and verification through KYC Registration Agency (KRA) in case of the demise of an investor to smoothen the transmission process in securities market.
      • Effective from – January 1, 2024
      • How will it work?
        • Upon receiving notification of an investor’s demise, the intermediary must obtain the death certificate and PAN from the notifier or nominee, verify the certificate the next working day, and treat it as “Original Seen and Verified” (OSV).
        • After verifying the death certificate, the intermediary must submit a KYC modification request to the KRA, block debit transactions in the investor’s account, and, if the death certificate is not received, submit a KYC modification request stating, “confirmation awaited.”
        • The KRA will validate and verify the request and update the KYC record as “Blocked Permanently” and inform linked intermediaries.
      • To ensure consistency in operations, stock exchanges, depositories, industry associations, and KRAs will establish common Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

      • The card offers enhanced security as it doesn’t have a card number, expiry date or CVV printed on it which reduces the risk of identity theft or unauthorized access to cards details.

    Memorandum of Understanding

    1. UAE and India have signed an MoU for sustainable industrial development.
        • The MoU focuses on industrial investments, technology transfer, and key technology deployment.
        • Seven key areas of focus include supply chain resilience, renewable energy, health and life sciences, space systems, AI, Industry 4.0, and standardization and metrology.
        • The collaboration will extend to AI deployment, 4IR technologies, and standardization efforts.

    2. Automotive Research Association of India has signed an MoU with IIT Guwahati to establish the “Digital Twin Center for Emerging Automotive Systems” as part of the Capital Goods scheme Phase II of the Ministry of Heavy Industries.
        • This Common Engineering Facility Center (CEFC) will facilitate “SAMARTH Udyog Bharat 4.0” and benefit industries, especially MSMEs and Start-ups, by creating digital twins for various systems.
        • The CEFC components include digitization of data, environment, system controls, material development, and manufacturing processes, all of which can be used for technology development, experimentation, design, simulation, and validation across industries.
