      • Both Australian Ministers arrived in New Delhi for the dialogue.

  6. 4th Conference of the Protectors of Emigrants was recently organized by the Ministry of External Affairs.
      • It was held on 10 September 2021, the day coinciding with the date of enactment of the Emigration Act, 1983.
      • The eMigrate platform has now been opened up to all countries in recognition of new migration corridors to East Asia, Europe and other countries.
      • The platform integrates the Protectors of Emigrants (POEs) offices, Passport offices, Indian Missions, Bureau of Immigration and others, for regulating overseas employment.
  7. Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, attended the seminar on Population, Human Capital and Sustainable Development (healthy people – healthy future), in Delhi.
      • The Union Minister launched a book titled ‘Infant and Child Mortality In Assam – Demographic and Socio-Economic Interrelations’ written by Dr Dipanjali Haloi and Dr Suresh Sharma.
      • The Minister inaugurated a digital population clock at the Institute for Economic Growth (located inside the University of Delhi).
      • The population clock will provide minute by minute estimate of India’s population. It will also provide data on total fertility rate, infant mortality rate and maternal mortality rate.

  1. Coal India Ltd. has signed an MoU with Assam govt for strengthening the health infrastructure at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital of Assam.

      • PM Narendra Modi has announced the setting up of chair in memory of Subramania Bharati at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) for Tamil studies.
      • The Chair will be established in the faculty of arts at the BHU.

  1. Indian Air Force has inducted a medium range surfaceto-air-missile (MRSAM) system, which is also known as the Barak 8 air defence system.
      • The system has been developed jointly by the Israel Aerospace Industries and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
      • Other firms involved in the project include Israeli firm Rafael, Bharat Electronics Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limited and Larsen & Toubro.
  2. French Naval Group and GRSE (India’s leading shipbuilder) have partnered for capacity building.

  1. Hughes Network Systems (US based company) and OneWeb (owned by UK govt and Bharati Airtel) have partnered for providing Low Earth Orbit satellite service in the US and India.
      • In India, both parties will distribute services to large enterprises, small and medium businesses, government, telcos and ISPs (Internet Service Providers) in the rural and remote parts of the country.
      • Oneweb is building a network of 648 low earth orbit satellite.
  2. Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) has signed an MoU with Ladakh administration, to make the UT carbon neutral.
      • CESL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).

  1. World’s largest carbon capturing plant, named Orca, has been established in Iceland.
      • The plant is designed to suck carbon dioxide out of the air and turn it into rock.
      • Orca is an Icelandic word “orka” meaning “energy”.
      • The plant will draw 4,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) out of the air every year.
  2. South Korea has launched its first successful underwater test of a submarine-launched ballistic missile.
      • Now, South Korea has become the 8th nation to launch such missile. Other nations are U.S., China, Russia, the U.K., France, India and North Korea.
      • The name of the submarine is Dosan Ahn Chang-ho and the name of the missile is Hyunmoo-2B ballistic missile.
