  1. India, Israel and the UAE have signed their first ever trilateral pact.
      • This is the first such arrangement since Israel and UAE established diplomatic ties.
      • The trilateral partnership has been initiated by the International Federation of Indo-Israel Chambers of Commerce (IFIICC).
      • Through IFIICC, Ecoppia (an Israel-based company) is producing an innovative robotic solar cleaning technology in India for a landmark project in the UAE.
      • The business potential of the three countries is expected to be $110 billion by 2030.
  2. Indian Railways have inducted the 100th 12000 HP WAG locomotive manufactured by Madhepura Electric Locomotive (MELPL), Bihar.
      • It is one of India’s largest integrated greenfield manufacturing facilities.

  1. NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) to sell power from its 150 MW solar project.
      • The project, which will be installed in Gujarat, will sell power at a tariff of Rs 2.20 per unit.
      • The company has also been allocated land in Rann of Kutch by the Gujarat government to develop a solar park with a capacity of 4,750 MW.
  2. Himachal Pradesh government has started a new Mukhyamantri Seva Sankalp Helpline Number 1100 for public grievance addressal in the state in the wake of second wave of Covid-19.

  3. Delhi Government has announced to organise a mass COVID-19 vaccination drive for all the media houses–electronic, digital and print–in the national capital.
      • Its cost will be borne by the govt.

  1. G7 Foreign Minister’s Meeting 2021 was held in London, UK in-person.
      • All the countries decide to support for all existing pillars of Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT-A), including its COVAX facility.
      • India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar attended the meeting.
      • First ever trilateral ministerial dialogue was held between India – France – Australia foreign ministers to discuss about the Indo-Pacific strategies.
  2. Global Task Force on Pandemic Response (of top 40 American companies) was joined by three Indian-American CEOs.
      • Sunder Pichai from Google, Punit Renjen from Deloitte and Shantanu Narayen from Adobe have joined the steering committee of the Global Task Force on Pandemic Response.

  1. “Global Methane Assessment 2021” has been released by Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) and UN Environment Program.
      • Methane emissions, caused by humans, can be reduced by 45% (180 million tons a year) in 2020-30. This can reduce global warming by 0.3º C by 2040s.
      • 45% methane reduction will prevent around 2.55 lakh premature deaths, 7.75 lakh asthma related hospital visits annually, 26 million tonnes crop loss, 73 billion hours of lost labour due to extreme heat.
      • Around of 60% of the methane is released due to the human activity, rest is from natural sources.
      • More than half of global methane emissions stem from human activities in three sectors: fossil fuels (35 per cent of human-caused emissions), waste (20 per cent) and agriculture (40 per cent).
      • Methane is responsible for 30% of warming since the pre-industrial era.
      • Measures like shifting to renewable energy, residential and commercial energy efficiency, and a reduction in food loss and waste, can reduce methane emissions by a further 15% by 2030.

  2. National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has given financial support of Rs 9,162 crore to West Bengal during FY21 for the development of agriculture and allied sectors amid Covid-19 pandemic.
      • Nabard sanctioned 2,284 new rural infrastructure projects consisting of rural roads, rural bridges, medium and minor irrigation projects, flood protection projects, solar power plants and Anganwadi Centres with RIDF loan support of Rs 1659.6 crore to West Bengal govt.
      • For 2021-22, it has estimated a credit potential of Rs 2.2 lakh crore for West Bengal to be disbursed by various banks for the priority sector activities.
