      • Dattopant Bapurao Thengadi, was an Indian Hindu Ideologue, trade union leader and founder of the Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh.
      • Maternity Benefit is given to insured women in the form of cash benefit in case of certain contingencies such as in the advanced stage of pregnancy, after delivery / in the unfortunate event of confinement or miscarriage and who meet the eligibility conditions.
      • Payment at the rate of 100% of wages is paid for 26 weeks as maternity benefit to the insured woman by ESIC to compensate for the loss of income during her childbirth.
  2. The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, has launched various projects of the Union Ministry of Education from Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.
      • The projects are –

      • Any consumer with a connected load of 100 kW or above can get Renewable Energy through open access from any Renewable Energy generating plant set up by himself; or by any developer.
      • The open access has to be granted within 15 days.
      • The portal can be accessed at https://greenopenaccess.in/ for processing of applications related to green energy open access by the stakeholders.
      • India is contributing only 3.5% to the global emission despite having about 17% of world population.
  4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flags off south India’s first Vande Bharat Express train, connecting Mysuru and Chennai via Bengaluru, at KSR Railway Station in Bengaluru.

      • Started in 2022, the scheme intends to ensure monthly basic income support to women heads of 1.6 crore households in the state.

  1. Indian Army has launched a single window facility Veerangana Sewa Kendra (VSK) for the welfare and grievances redressal of Veer Naris.
      • Indian Army launched this facility with a motto of “Taking Care of Our Own, No Matter What”.
      • The VSK will be available as a service to the Indian Army Veterans Portal indianarmyveterans.gov.in.
  2. India will begin the 3rd edition of the Sea Vigil maritime exercise to enhance India’s maritime security.
      • The two-day long multi-exercise will cover the 7,516 km-long coastline of the country.
      • The first edition of the Sea Vigil Exercise was held in 2019.

      • The tenure of this MOU is 3 years.
      • The MOU will strengthen state capacities, establish innovative models and implement the national strategy for Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) and SHG convergence.

  1. NASA has announced to launch Psyche Asteroid Mission in 2023 to investigate a previously unexplored metal-rich asteroid of the same name.
      • NASA selected Psyche asteroid in 2017.
      • NASA is also planning to launch Janus mission for exploring twin binary asteroid systems. Janus is part of the NASA Small Innovative Missions for Planetary Exploration (SIMPLEx) program.
  2. NASA has selected Pratt & Whitney to develop advanced engine technologies to reduce fuel consumption and emissions for next-generation single-aisle aircraft.
      • The Hybrid Thermally Efficient Core (HyTEC) project is part of NASA’s Sustainable Flight National Partnership, which will develop solutions to achieve the aviation industry’s goal to significantly reduce CO2 emissions by 2050.
      • Through HyTEC, Pratt & Whitney will demonstrate the compatibility of sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) with advanced combustors for small-core engines.

  1. The Global Carbon Budget 2022 report has been released by the Global Carbon Project – a group of scientists who track carbon emitted by human activities.
      • The global carbon emissions are expected to reach 6 billion tonnes of CO2 (GtCO2) into the atmosphere in 2022.
      • The projection of 40.6 GtCO2 total emissions in 2022 is close to the highest-ever annual total of 40.9 GtCO2 in 2019.
      • In 2021, more than half of the world’s CO2 emissions were from three places — China (31%), the US (14%) and the European Union (8%).
      • India accounted for 7% of the global CO2 emissions.
      • In 2022, India’s emissions are expected to increase by 6%, driven mostly by a 5% increase in coal emissions.

      • According to the report, vaccine inequality has been aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
      • The burden of cervical cancer is high in low-income countries despite the introduction of human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV) in 41% of these countries.

        • Union Channel Finance – A fully automated financing solution for finance to dealers
        • Union Digi-Finance – An online account opening platform to open a saving account instantly.
        • Union SARAS– A portal named Stressed Asset Recovery Automated Solution, developed for early resolution and effective management of stressed assets having end-to-end processing automation of all recovery and legal proceedings.
  6. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has released the regulatory framework for online bond platform to streamline their operations.
      • Online Bond Platform Providers (OBPPs) are companies incorporated in India and they should register themselves as stock brokers in the debt segment of the stock exchange, as per the framework that would be effective immediately.
      • The entity would have to ensure compliance with the minimum disclosure requirements.
      • It would also have to disclose on its platform all instances of conflict of interest, if any, arising from its transactions or dealings with related parties.
  7. US Department of Treasury has removed India from its ‘Currency Monitoring List’, along with a few other countries.
      • The US had set up its Currency Monitoring List to track the currency practices and monetary policies of its major trading partners, which includes India.
  8. Ministry of Finance issued a notification for amending the Electoral Bond Scheme to provide “an additional period of 15 days” for their sale “in the year of general elections to the Legislative Assembly of States and Union Territories with Legislature”
      • Under this scheme, the bonds are usually made available for purchase by any person for a period of ten days each in the months of January, April, July and October, when specified by the Union government.
      • The original scheme had provided for an additional period of 30 days, as specified by the government, in the year when Lok Sabha elections are held, while the amendment adds another 15 days.
      • From Nov 9, the sale of the 23rd tranche of bonds has started by SBI.
