  1. Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), in collaboration with Bayer, has launched ‘ATL Industry Visit’, a unique industry visit initiative under Atal Tinkering labs.
      • As part of the initiative, the first visit has taken place at Bayer’s manufacturing facility in Vapi, Gujarat.
      • Bayer has opened its manufacturing and production plants and research centres across Vapi, Shamirpet, Chandippa, and Bangalore to the ATL students to provide first-hand exposure.
      • Bayer has partnered with NITI Aayog since 2021 to support various initiatives of the Atal Innovation Mission.

  1. Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL, Assam) has been upgraded from Schedule B to Schedule A CPSE by the Government of India.
      • The upgradation to Schedule A will now make NRL eligible to achieve the status of Navratna which in turn will give higher financial autonomy.

• NRL is the largest refinery in Northeast India with a capacity of 3 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA). Currently it is implementing a mega refinery expansion project to triple its capacity to 9 MMTPA.

  1. Information & Broadcasting Ministry has released a draft of comprehensive guidelines for exhibition of Public Service Awareness (PSA) films made by the Central Government for educational and awareness purpose.
      • Duration of PSA films: The films shall be screened in cinema theatres for a period of 15 days or as per the Ministry’s instructions. The screening of all government films should be done during PST [Prime Screen Time].

      • Knee osteoarthritis has no possible cure except total joint replacement at an advanced stage, hence an early diagnosis is essential.
      • This AI-based model can be used to detect the severity level of the disease and assist medical practitioners remotely for a more accurate diagnosis.
      • This model predicts knee OA severity according to the WHO-approved Kellgren and Lawrence (KL) grading scale that ranges from grade 0 (low severity) to 4 (high severity).

  1. Odisha Government has launched ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ (our Odisha new Odisha) to boost rural infrastructure especially digital connectivity, and promote the Jagannath culture across the state.
      • An amount of 4000 Crore has been sanctioned under the scheme from the State Budget.
      • Coverage: The scheme will cover all Gram Panchayats in each Block of the State with the entitlement of 50 lakhs.
      • Project Cost: Every gram panchayat can take up works up to 10 lakhs under the scheme.
      • Ministry: Ministry of Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, Odisha.
      • The present scheme is a modified version of the previous initiative, ‘Ama Gaon Ama Bikash’ (our village our development).

  1. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has signed a Teaming Agreement with Spain-based Navantia to participate in the Navy’s P75 (India) submarine project.
      • These submarines will be based on Spain’s S80 class of submarines.
      • P75 (I) would be the first programme to be processed under the ambitious Strategic Partnership model of acquisition of the Defence Ministry.

  1. Indian Defence ministry has signed a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for procurement of two Dornier Aircraft for Indian Coast Guard (ICG) at an overall cost of Rs 458 crore.
      • HAL will indigenously manufacture the Dornier Aircraft at its Kanpur facility.
      • Earlier this year, the defence ministry had signed a deal with HAL to procure six Dornier aircraft at a cost of Rs 667 crore for the Indian Air Force.
