      • This is the first time that all central Asian countries will be present as the guest.
      • This is also the second time when so many countries will be invited together after 2018 when ASEAN was invited.
  2. India has signed an air bubble agreement with Australia which allows all the eligible candidates to travel between the countries.
      • India has signed bilateral air bubble agreements with many countries now.
  3. An event titled “Depositors First: Guaranteed Time-bound Deposit Insurance Payment up to 5 lakh rupees” was addressed by PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
      • He informed that the guarantee on bank deposits of Rs 5 lakh is time-bound for repayment within 90 days.

State News

  1. Karnataka govt has signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) with UNDP under Code Unnati to improve entrepreneurship and youth employability.
      • On the World Youth Skills Day (June 15, 2021), Karnataka govt has launched the Code Unnati to impart digital literacy to women and youth from rural Karnataka.
      • The Code Unnati initiative aims to reach over 20,000 youth and 5,000 women in Bangalore Rural, Raichur and Dakshin Kannada districts over the next three years.
  2. Kashi-Viswanath Corridor will be inaugurated by PM. The corridor will provide easy connectivity between Kashi Vishwanath Temple and banks of Ganga River.
  3. Himachal Pradesh has established the Samanya Varg Aayog (General Category Commission) for redressal of grievances of the general category people.
      • HP is the second state after Madhya Pradesh to establish the Samanya Varg Aayog.

Memorandum of Understanding

  1. Ministry of Defence has signed an MoU with Indian Institute of Teacher Education (IITE) Gandhinagar to facilitate training to teachers of Sainik Schools.
      • The MoU is for the period of five years commencing with effect from January 2022 under which 800 plus teachers of all Sainik Schools will be trained through courses named ‘Gurudiksha’ and ‘Pratibaddhta’.
      • Presently, 33 sainik schools are operational in India. 100 more are to be established by affiliating existing govt/private schools or NGOs with the Sainik School Society.

International News

  1. USA has organized the first edition of the Summit for Democracy.
      • India also participated in it.
      • US President launched the Presidential Initiative for Democratic Renewal that will provide assistance to countries for promoting democracy.
      • $424.4 million has been allocated to the initiative to support free media, fight corruption, strengthen democratic reforms, for use of technology for democracy and for defence of free and fair elections.
  2. OSCAR 1 (Orbiting Satellites Carrying Amateur Radio) was the world’s first non-governmental satellite launched in 1961.
      • It was also the first satellite built by a collection of private individuals.
      • OSCAR 1 operated for nearly 20 days, testing radio reception from space.
  3. USA, Australia and Japan have announced a project to jointly develop an undersea cable in the Pacific Ocean to provide robust internet connectivity among them and the Pacific Ocean Island nations.
  4. New Caledonia archipelago is a French territory located in the Southwest Pacific Ocean, and it is a part of Melanesia.
