  1. NITI Aayog has released the “Handbook of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Implementation”, in partnership with WRI India.
      • The report has also been prepared by Ministry of Power, Department of Science and Technology, and Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
      • India is among a handful of countries that support the global EV30@30 campaign. As part of this campaign, India aims to increase the number of e-vehicles to 30% by 2030.
  2. Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Bhupendra Yadav, has launched the protocol for all India tiger and elephant population estimation (that will be conducted in 2022).
      • For the first time, both estimations will be conducted together.
      • 4th edition of the “Trumpet” (the quarterly newsletter) was released on the occasion of World Elephant Day. The “Trumpet” is published by Project Elephant, Elephant Cell, and Wildlife Institute of India.
  3. Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs has launched Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 to celebrate 75th years of India’s independence.
      • It will conclude on October 2, 2021.
      • The Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 was flagged off from Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi.
      • Fit India Freedom Runs will be organized in nearly 750 Districts, 75 villages in each district across the country.
  4. PM interacted with women Self Help Groups in ‘Atmanirbhar Narishakti se Samvad’.
      • In the ‘Samvad’, the PM interacted with women Self Help Group (SHG) members/community resource persons promoted under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
      • He also released capitalization support funds to the tune of Rs. 1625 Crore to over 4 lakh SHGs.
      • In addition, he released Rs. 25 Crore as seed money for 7500 SHG members under the PMFME (PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises) Scheme.
      • During the occasion, the PM also released Rs. 4.13 crore as funds to 75 FPOs (Farmer Producer Organizations) being promoted under the DAY-NRLM.
      • He also released the Rs. 25 crores as seed money for 7500 SHG members under the PM-FME (PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises) Scheme of Ministry of Food Processing Industries.

  1. Rajasthan govt has approved the Indira Gandhi Urban Credit Card Scheme, 2021 for providing financial support to street vendors, youngsters employed in the service sector and those looking for self-employment.
      • The scheme will provide financial support to street vendors, hairdressers, rickshaw-pullers, carpenters, potters, cobblers, masons, tailors, washermen, painters, electricians and plumbers.
      • The beneficiaries will be given interest-free loans of up to Rs 50,000 without any guarantee.
      • A total of 5 lakh beneficiaries living within the limits of urban local bodies will be covered under the scheme.
      • The moratorium period of the loan is three months and the repayment period 12 months.

  4. National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) in Lothal, Gujarat, is conceptualized as an international tourist destination, dedicated to the legacy of maritime heritage of India.
      • The complex will have various tourist facilities/amenities such as National Maritime Heritage Museum, Heritage Theme Park, Maritime Research Institute, landscaping and recreational venues, to attract tourists besides pavilion for each coastal states and union territories to showcase the maritime heritage of India.
  5. Tamil Nadu govt has announced a state tax cut on petrol by Rs 3 per litre as part of the 2021-22 state budget.
      • The cut will result in a loss of Rs 1,160 crore a year to the state exchequer.
      • Tamil Nadu will become the third state — after Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh — to have a separate agricultural budget.
      • The state govt has announced aspirants belonging to all castes as temple priests.

  1. APEDA, collaboration with Himachal Pradesh Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation Ltd, has exported first consignment consisting of five unique varieties of apples – Royal Delicious, Dark Baron Gala, Scarlet Spur, Red Velox & Golden Delicious – to Bahrain.
      • The apples were exported from Himachal Pradesh.
      • Al Jajira group (a leading retailer in Bahrain) organized an apple promotion programme on the theme of – Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
      • These apples were showcased at the program to familiarize consumers in Bahrain about varieties of apples in India.
      • In July, GI-tagged Fazil mango variety from Malda district of West Bengal was exported to Bahrain.

Memorandum of Understanding

  1. National Health Authority (NHA) has signed an MoU with IIT-Delhi for strengthening India’s response to Covid-19.
      • Through this partnership, the National Health Authority (NHA) will be a technical collaborator on the US Agency for International Development (USAID)-supported SAMRIDH Healthcare Blended Financing Facility.
      • IIT Delhi serves as the hosting entity for SAMRIDH.
      • This initiative is implemented by a Technical Support Unit managed by IPE Global.
      • SAMRIDH Healthcare Blended Financing Facility aims to catalyse market-based health solutions to improve access to affordable and quality healthcare services for low-income and vulnerable communities, particularly for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) beneficiaries.
      • SAMRIDH has mobilised a capital pool of more than USD 100 million from private sector and development funders.

International News

  1. International Air Transport Association (IATA) and UNCTAD have extended their collaboration to facilitate international trade, particularly e-commerce.
      • Through this partnership, the successful integration of air cargo messaging standards (Cargo-XML) into UNCTAD’s automated customs management system, ASYCUDAWorld (Automated System for Customs Data), will be achieved.
      • Further, in the next stage of the collaboration, the focus will be on enabling ASYCUDAWorld to manage e-commerce shipments more efficiently.
      • This will enable customs authorities to share advance cargo/mail information requirements across the digitized supply chain (airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers and third-party messaging service providers).
  2. Sixth Meeting of the Agriculture Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was organized virtually in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

  1. SEBI has merged the SEBI Issue and Listing of Debt Securities rules and SEBI Non-Convertible Redeemable Preference Shares rules into a single regulation to be called — Sebi (Issue and Listing of Non-Convertible Securities) Regulations.
      • Purpose – To ease the compliance burden on listed entities.
      • Under the new framework, issuers other than unlisted REITs (Real estate investment trusts) and InvITs (Infrastructure investment trusts), who are in existence for less than 3 years, can enter bond market on certain conditions such as:
        • the issuance of their debt securities is made only on a private placement basis;
        • the issue is made on the EBP (electronic book mechanism) platform irrespective of the issue size, and;
        • the issue is open for subscription only to qualified institutional buyers (QIBs).
      • Issuers who have cured the default in payment of interest/dividend/redemption have been permitted to file shelf prospectus.
      • This is subject to that the issuers have cured the default at least 30 days before filing the draft shelf prospectus.
  2. “Badlaav Humse Hai” is the marketing campaign of AU Small Finance Bank.
      • The bank has also launched “AU 0101” – digital banking platform for its customers.
  3. IIFL Finance has partnered with FinBox to offer innovative digital credit products to its merchants.
      • Through this partnership, IIFL and FinBox will disburse ₹1,000 crores in loans over the next 2 quarters, through a completely digital model.
