  1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Mahakal Lok corridor at Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
      • The corridor is part of the first phase of the Rs 850 crore Mahakaleshwar Temple Corridor Development Project.
      • It is one of the largest corridors (900-metre-long) in the country. It spreads around the old Rudrasagar Lake.
      • The Mahakal Path contains 108 stambhs (pillars) which depict Anand Tandav Swaroop (Dance form) of Lord Shiva.
  2. Union Cabinet has approved Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) scheme for the remaining four years of the 15th Finance Commission from 2022-23 to 2025-26.
      • PM-DevINE is a Central Sector Scheme with 100% Central funding.
      • It will be implemented by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
      • Budget – Rs.6,600 crore
      • Purpose
        • (a) Fund infrastructure convergently, in the spirit of PM Gati Shakti;

          (b) Support social development projects based on felt needs of the NER;

          (c) Enable livelihood activities for youth and women;

          (d) Fill the development gaps in various sectors.

  3. Tamil Nadu government notified India’s first Kaduvur slender loris sanctuary in the country, covering 11,806 hectares in Karur and Dindigul districts.
      • The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List categorizes Slender loris as an endangered animal.
      • These endangered primates are listed under Schedule I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act of India, 1972.

      • AFBCWF is a Tri service fund, utilised for grant of immediate financial assistance of ex-gratia, to the Next of Kin and dependents of Battle Casualties.
  5. Union Cabinet has approved amendments to the Multi State Cooperative Societies Act (MSCS). The Act was last amended in 2002.
      • The amendments make the functioning of the board of such cooperatives transparent — registration becomes simpler and seats can be reserved for women, scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates in coop boards.
      • Also, a Cooperative Election Authority can be formed to conduct free, fair and timely elections to coops.
      • There are around 100 multi-state cooperative diaries and 70 multi-state cooperative banks. The Bill will incorporate provisions of the 97th Constitutional Amendment.
  6. Central Government has formed a four-member panel of experts, chaired by Dr Y K Gupta (Vice Chairperson, Standing National Committee on Medicines).
      • Purpose – to examine the details and adverse event reports received from the WHO on the deaths of 66 children in The Gambia being linked potentially to the four made-in-India cough syrups
      • The cough syrups are Promethazine Oral Solution BP, KOFEXNALIN Baby Cough Syrup, MaKOFF Baby Cough Syrup and MaGrip n Cold Syrup, manufactured by Maiden Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Sonepat.

  1. China has launched its first space-based solar telescope named Advanced Space-based Solar Observatory (ASO-S), nicknamed Kuafu-1, aboard the Long March-2D carrier rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
      • ASO-S is China’s first full-scale satellite dedicated to researching the Sun.
      • It is the world’s first solar telescope capable of simultaneously monitoring both solar flares and coronal mass ejections.
      • India is planning to launch a similar solar mission in 2023 called Aditya-L1 to research the solar atmosphere.
