  4. Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has extended the relaxation for the provision of requirement of indigenous domestic content requirement (DCR) under Component C of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Surakshaevam Utthaan Mahabhiyan Yojana(PM-KUSUM Scheme) till 31st March 2024.
    Domestic content requirement

      • It mandates the use of both solar cells and modules manufactured domestically as per specifications and testing requirements fixed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
      • It was incorporated into the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) or National Solar Mission (NSM) adopted in 2010 with the objective of developing domestic solar manufacturing and making India a solar manufacturing hub.

About PM KUSUM Scheme:
• Launched in March 2019 by the MNRE, to subsidize farmers to install solar irrigation pumps for cultivation.
• It has 3 components:
o Component A: 10,000 (Mega Watt) MW of solar capacity through installation of small Solar Power Plants of individual plants of capacity upto 2 MW.
o Component B: Installation of 20 lakh standalone Solar Powered Agriculture Pumps.
o Component C: Solarisation of 15 Lakh Grid-connected Agriculture Pumps.

  1. India is preparing Matsya-6000 for exploring deep oceans as part of India’s ‘Samudrayaan’
    Matsya – 6000

    • It is a manned submersible vehicledeveloped by the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai. 
    • It was developed under the Samudrayaan mission, under Ministry of Earth Sciences to facilitate humans in the deep ocean in exploring mineral resources.
    • It is designed with the capability of operating in the deep sea for 12 hours while in case of emergency, it can also operate up to 96 hours with all the necessary measures for human safety.
    • Expected to be launched in 2024-25, it would make India only one among six countries (US, Russia, Japan, France, and China) to have piloted a crewed under-sea expedition beyond 5,000 metres.

  2. The Nipah Virus has made a resurgence in Kerala, India.
    About the Virus

    • It is azoonotic virus (it is transmitted from animals to humans).
    • It first broke out in Malaysia and Singaporein 1998 and 1999.
    • Itfirst appeared in domestic pigs and has been found among several species of domestic animals including dogs, cats, goats, horses and sheep.
    • The disease spreads through fruit batsor ‘flying foxes’.
    • The virus is present in bat urineand potentially, bat faeces, saliva, and birthing fluids.
    • Currently, there are no vaccines for both humans and animals.Intensive supportive care is given to humans infected by the Nipah virus.
    • Mortality among the infected people is very high in Nipah – between 40 and 70%.

  3. Ministry of Jal Shakti’s Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation is organizing the International Conference on Dam Safety in Jaipur.
      • Theme: “Safe & Secure Dams Ensure Nation’s Prosperity”
      • Professionals from across the nation and about fifteen countries are expected to participate in the conference.
      • There are over 6,000 dams in India and it is ranked third globally in terms of large dams. Approximately 80% of these dams are over 25 years of age.
      • The conference aims to provide a major platform for experts to come together and debate cutting-edge topics in dam safety and management.

  4. A new cybercrime investigation tool called TTPs (tactics, techniques and procedures)-based cybercrime investigation framework is being developed.
      • The tool will help in tracking and classifying cybercrimes identifying chain of evidences required to solve the case and in mapping evidences onto the framework to convict criminals.

      • Compensation would be Rs 10 lakh for a victim’s family in case of death, and that there would be provisions for Rs 4-6 lakh compensation to injured victims.

  3. Uttar Pradesh government has introduced the Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana under the Nand Baba Mission to enhance cattle breeds and boost milk production in the state.
      • The scheme aims to improve cow breeds, particularly Sahiwal, Gir, Tharparkar, and Gangatiri, to increase milk production and the income of dairy farmers.
      • The government will provide a 50% subsidy on the estimated cost of Rs 62.5 lakh for establishing a unit of 25 milch cows, with a maximum subsidy of Rs 31.25 lakh per beneficiary.
      • The scheme will be implemented initially in 10 divisional headquarters in the state.
      • Beneficiaries must have at least 3 years of cattle farming experience and meet specific land requirements for eligibility.

      • The 2 step process will involve scanning the QR code and approving an e-mandate through Unified Payments Interface (UPI) apps.
      • ‘AutoPay on QR’ will eliminate the necessity to download an app or register on the website and directly activates a unique subscription for each customer.

      • In September 2021, India had formalised the acquisition of 56 Airbus C295 aircraft to replace the legacy Avro fleet of the IAF at a cost of Rs 21,935 crore.
      • The first 16 aircraft will be manufactured in Spain, while the subsequent 40 will be produced through a joint venture between Tata and Airbus in Gujarat.

      • This partnership is set to benefit over 30 lakh eShram registered workers in the unorganized sector who have joined NCS.
