  1. India’s First E-Waste Eco Park has been established at Holambi Kalan in Delhi.
      • Delhi is the 5th largest producer of e-waste in India, after Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
  2. IIT-Delhi has inaugurated a new Census Data Workstation at the Economics Lab in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Delhi.
      • The Registrar General and Census Commission of India, Dr Vivek Joshi inaugurated the Census Date Workstation.
  3. Union Cabinet has given its approval to introduce the Central Universities (Amendment) 2022, bill in Parliament to amend the Central Universities Act, 2009 for transforming the National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI), Vadodara into the Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV).
      • NRTI is a deemed-to-be university.
  4. According to a survey of National Statistics Office, the percentage of unmarried Indians (in the age group of 15-29) has increased from 17.2% to 23% during 2011-19.
      • In the National Youth Policy 2014, those aged 15 to 29 years are classified as youth.
      • The most number of unmarried youth was observed in 2019 in the states/UTs of Jammu & Kashmir.

Sub-schemes under Mission Shakti –

    A) 'Sambal'
    o Purpose - for safety and security of women, the "Samarthya" sub-scheme is for empowerment of women
    o Schemes under Sambal - One Stop Centre (OSC), Women Helpline (WHL), Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) with a new component of Nari Adalats - women's collectives to promote and facilitate alternative dispute resolution and gender justice in society and within families.
    B) ‘Samarthya’
    o Purpose - for empowerment of women
    o Schemes under Samarthya - Ujjwala, Swadhar Greh, Working Women Hostel, National Creche Scheme for children of working mothers, and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) under umbrella ICDS
    o A new component of Gap Funding for Economic Empowerment has also been added in the Samarthya Scheme.
    o The ministry will implement “Naari Adalat” (women’s courts) led by women’s collectives in the country in a phased manner as an alternative grievance redressal mechanism to resolve “petty” disputes at the gram panchayat level.
    1. National Security Council Secretariat, Government of India has organized a two day Meeting of the BIMSTEC Expert Group on Cyber Security Cooperation in New Delhi.
        • The in-person meeting is being chaired by the National Cyber Security Coordinator Lt General Rajesh Pant.
        • Participants – Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand
        • This Expert Group meeting is to formulate the Action Plan for strengthening Cyber Security in the use of ICTs. India is taking a lead in the policy formulation.
    2. The population of the critically endangered Great Indian Bustard (GIB) is reduced to less than 100 now due to electrocution.
        • The bird is found in Gujarat and Rajasthan.
        • The current sex ratio for the bird stands at 1 male for 3-5 females.
        • As per the 2018 GIB count, 150 GIBs existed; out of this, 122 were in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan.
        • The rest were scattered in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
    3. I2U2 (India, Israel, US, and UAE) organized their 1st virtual summit, which was attended by PM Narendra Modi, PM Yair Lapid, President Joe Biden, and President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
        • India will provide “appropriate land” for “food parks” across the country that will be built in collaboration with Israel, the US and the UAE.
        • India will “facilitate farmers’ integration into the food parks.
        • The UAE will invest $2 billion in India to create the food parks.

    1. Delhi’s L-G Vinai Kumar Saxena has launched the SAH-BHAGITA scheme to increase the involvement of the Residential Welfare Association (RWAs) in optimal tax collection and waste management systems.
        • Under this scheme, the RWAs will be incentivised for their efforts to improve efficiency and compliance in tax collection and waste management.
    2. The pension scheme meant for those political activists who were imprisoned during the Emergency imposed in 1975 was restored by Eknath Shinde led Maharashtra government.
        • The scheme was scrapped in 2020 by Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) govt.

        • This is the world’s fastest graphics DRAM chip.
    2. Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved Serum Institute of India (SII) to manufacture indigenously-developed India’s first Quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus vaccine (qHPV) against cervical cancer.
        • Cervical cancer is the second most frequent cancer among women between 15 and 44 years of age with a high death ratio in India.
    3. The Technology Business Incubator of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (Hyderabad) has announced to provide a lending support to ‘Abyom’, a start-up, for developing ‘Reignition Liquid Engine’ for building India’s first reusable sounding rocket.

        • The majority of the amount will be used for repayment of existing term loan and debt bonds.
    6. NIIT Institute of Finance, Banking and Insurance (NIIT IFBI) – a subsidiary of NIIT Limited, has announced a strategic partnership with HDFC Bank to build new-age Digital Talent.
        • Both entities will train and recruit the data engineers.
        • The first learning program to be launched is the HDFC Bank Data Digits-Post Graduate Program in Data Engineering.
        • Through this partnership, a new programme customised for HDFC Bank called ‘Data Digits’, a certification program in Data Engineering, was launched.
    7. Agri-tech startup farm has partnered with SBI General Insurance and Future Generali India Insurance Company to provide insurance solutions for its 1.9 million farmers.
        • farm is an open digital platform for growers, farming communities and food systems.
        • With these partnerships, the company aims to offer its insurance solutions to nearly 2 million farmers in 2022-23.
    8. Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has introduced Paper Import Monitoring System (PIMS) by amending the import policy of major paper products from ‘Free’ to ‘Free subject to compulsory registration under PIMS’.
        • PIMS shall come into effect from 1st October, 2022.
