  1. Defence minister Rajnath Singh has inaugurated the three-day Rashtra Raksha Samarpan Parv in Jhansi.
      • The Parv is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Lakshmi Bai.
      • Defence Minister announced to set up 100 new Sainik Schools, NCC Alumni Association was launched.
      • Apart from this, National Programme of Simulation Training for NCC Cadets was launched to scale up simulation training facilities for three wings of NCC namely Army, Air and Naval.
      • NCC Border and Coastal Scheme was also launched to increase the NCC in borders and coastal areas.
  2. India’s First Security Food Museum has been established by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu.
      • The food museum has been co-developed by FCI and Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museums, Bengaluru.
  3. Ministry of Science & Technology has inaugurated the “Tech NEEV@75” as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
      • At the event, the Ministry announced that 30 Science Technology and Innovation (STI) Hubs will be set up across the country for Scheduled Tribes (STs) by end of 2022.
      • In October 2021, the Ministry announced to set up 75 STI Hubs for SCs and STs. Out of 75 proposed STI Hubs for SCs/STs, 20 have already been established by Department of Science and Technology.
  4. Wings India 2022 will be organized in Hyderabad, Telangana on the theme of India@75: “New Horizon for Aviation Industry”.
      • Organizers – Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airport Authority of India, and FICCI with the support of Ministry of External Affairs, and states government.
      • Indian has become the third largest domestic aviation market in the world and handles the third largest domestic traffic after the USA and China.
      • As on date, 387 routes connecting 62 Airports including 6 Heliports and 2 Water Aerodromes have been made operational under RCS-UDAN Scheme.
  5. PM Narendra Modi has virtually addressed the inaugural session of the 82nd All India Presiding Officers’ Conference in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
      • At the Conference, the PM proposed ‘one nation, one legislative platform’ to boost the parliamentary system of India by leveraging technology.
      • The platform will connect all state assemblies in the country.

  1. Maharashtra govt has signed an MoU with Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), a US-based NPO, to support the adoption and promotion of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the state.
      • The MoU was signed at the Glasgow in the United Kingdom.
      • The Maharashtra EV Policy, which was approved in July 2021, aims to have a 10% share of EVs in total registrations by 2025.
  2. Kashi Utsav will be organized by Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre in Varanasi this month.
      • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath installed a rare idol of Maa Annapurna Devi at Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi.
      • PM inaugurated the 13-foot-tall statue of Adi Guru Shankarachary at Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand.

  1. 17th edition of the India-U.S. bilateral army exercise, Yudh Abhyas 2021, has started at the Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, Alaska, U.S.
      • It will continue from October 15 to 29.
      • The previous version of this exercise was held at the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Bikaner in February 2021.
  2. Indian Army has won the gold medal in a multilateral exercise named as “Cambrian Patrol Exercise”, which was held in UK, during October 13-15.
      • The 4/5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) represented the Indian Army at the drill held at Brecon, Wales.
      • The exercise is also known as the “Olympics of military patrolling”.
      • This year, only three international patrols out of the 96 participating teams were awarded a gold medal.

International News

  1. Blue Origin has announced its plans to build its own commercial space station – “Orbital Reef,” between 2025 and 2030.
      • Blue Origin has been founded by Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos.
      • Orbital Reef will be nearly as large as the International Space Station and will be able to house about 10 people.

  1. TVS Motor Company has become the first Indian two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturer to join the United Nations Global Compact.
      • The UN Global Compact is a non-binding United Nations pact to encourage businesses and firms worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, and to report on their implementation.
      • The UNGC has 10 principles divided into Human Rights, Labour, Environment, and Anti-Corruption.
  2. Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has collaborated with the All India MSME Association to encourage and promote the listing of MSMEs and startups.
      • Through this pact, AIMA MSME will assist BSE in evaluating MSMEs and startups for listing on the exchange’s SME platform while also sensitising its investor network for investing in listed MSMEs.
  3. Niyo (fintech company) has partnered with SBM Bank India and Visa to offer a digital savings account with Niyo Global.
  4. BharatPe has launched the World’s 1st Merchant Shareholding Program (MSP) for its merchant partners.
      • It is a $100 million worth program, under which the company offers its merchant customers an opportunity to buy BharatPe’s equity shares and become a partner.
  5. MobiKwik, in collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and Axis Bank, has launched the MobiKwik RuPay Card.
