      • The Committee will suggest measures to empower NCC cadets to contribute more effectively towards nation building and national developmental efforts in various sectors.

      • An MoU between Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), Ministry of External Affairs of India and the Specialized Institute of Higher Education for Diplomatic Training (IEESFORD), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador was also exchanged during the FOC.
  4. Ministry of Law and Justice has launched “Ek Pahal Campaign” across the nation to encourage people seek justice by registering themselves for tele-law.
      • The campaign aims at delivering justice at the doorstep of people.
      • The campaign was launched by Department of Justice and National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).

  1. Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has signed an MoU with Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) for the installation of public charging stations for electric vehicles in Punjab.
      • CESL is a subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. (EESL).

  1. Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine has signed an MoU with the Homoeopathy and the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia, USA for strengthening the quality of Ayurvedic and other Indian traditional medicine products globally.
      • The MoU will also enhance India’s export potential especially to the USA market.
      • The MoU is aimed at strengthening promotion and development of standards in the field of Ayurveda and other Indian Traditional systems of medicine between the two countries.

  1. World Economic Forum will conduct its Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, on 17-21 January 2022.
      • Theme – Working Together, Restoring Trust
      • Ahead of the Annual Meeting 2022, the Forum will host the 5th Sustainable Development Impact Summit to take place virtually from 20 to 23 September 2021 in the context of the United Nations General Assembly.

      • The irregularities led to an increase in the rankings of Saudi Arabia, China, UAE, and Azerbaijan.
      • Wilmer Hale, law investigation agency, highlighted the irregularities.
  2. NITI Aayog has launched a report ‘Reforms in Urban Planning Capacity in India’ on measures to ramp up urban planning capacity in India.
      • India is home to 11% of the total global urban population.
      • By 2027, India will surpass China as the most populous country in the world. Unplanned urbanization will exert great pressure on the cities.
      • The report presented various measures for the improving the urban cities’ planning.
      • NITI Aayog and Dassault Systems (France) have partnered to boost innovation and support AIM mission.

  1. Power Finance Corporation (PFC) launched its €300 million 7-year Euro Green Bonds in Asian and European markets.
      • It is not only the first Euro bond issuance by PFC but also the first ever Euro-denominated ‘Green’ bond issuance from India.

      • Loans can be provided against a wide range of debt-equity mutual funds.
  4. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd and the Indian Institute of Science- Bangalore have partnered to set up a state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI-ML) Centre at the IISc campus.
      • The Centre is being established under the bank’s CSR project on Education & Livelihood.
      • It will also promote research and innovation in AI and ML and create a talent pool in these segments.
  5. 45th GST Council has held in Lucknow. Highlights:
      • Extension of existing concessional GST rates (currently valid till 30th September, 2021) on following Covid-19 treatment drugs, up to 31st December, 2021, namely-
        • Amphotericin B –nil
        • Remdesivir – 5%
        • Tocilizumab –nil
        • Anti-coagulants like Heparin – 5%
      • Reduction of GST rate to 5% on more Covid-19 treatment drugs, up to 31st December, 2021, namely- Itolizumab, Posaconazole, Infliximab, Favipiravir, Casirivimab & Imdevimab, 2-Deoxy-D-Glucose, Bamlanivimab & Etesevimab
      • E Commerce Operators are being made liable to pay tax on following services provided through them
        • transport of passengers, by any type of motor vehicles through it [w.e.f. 1st January, 2022]
        • restaurant services provided through it with some exceptions [w.e.f. 1st January, 2022]
        • Earlier, tax was paid by restaurants but now aggregators such as Zomato and Swiggy will pay the tax
      • The Council has decided to set up a GoM [Group of ministers] to examine the issue of correction of inverted duty structure for major sectors; rationalise the rates and review exemptions from the point of view of revenue augmentation.

      • Vinisha’s project is a solar-powered ironing cart.
      • Vidyut’s project is Takachar – a cheap, small-scale, portable technology that converts crop residues into sellable bio-products.

      • Reason – North Korea did not send its team in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

  1. 57th Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) day was observed on September 15 in Dhaka.
