      • A bilateral agreement on the recruitment of Indian citizens to work in Portugal was signed during the visit.
      • Portugal became the first European country with which India signed the agreement on Indian labour mobility.

      • India will become a $150 billion pharmaceutical market by 2025.

  4. Byju’s has partnered with NITI Aayog to provide free access to its tech-driven learning programmes for children from 112 “aspirational districts” of the country.
      • The collaboration will feature two main components:
        • Byju’s Career Plus programme, which will identify and provide high-quality coaching to 3,000 students of Classes 11 and 12 who aspire to appear for NEET and JEE.
        • A voluntary programme will allow children of school-going age (Classes 6-12) to opt for content from Byju’s Learning App for three years, under the Byju’s social impact initiative, Education for All.

      • India Enterprise Architecture (IndEA) was launched in 2018.
      • MeghEA is the state version of IndEA.

  1. The Department of Space has signed a framework agreement with Agnikul Cosmos for access to ISRO facilities and expertise towards the development and testing of subsystems/systems of space launch vehicles.
      • The agreement will also enable Agnikul, based in the National Centre for Combustion R&D of IIT-Madras to avail technical expertise of ISRO for testing and qualifying its space launch vehicle systems and subsystems.

International News

  1. UNESCO has designated Mura-Drava-Danube (MDD) as the world’s first ‘five-country biosphere reserve’.
      • The biosphere reserve covers 700 kilometres of the Mura, Drava and Danube rivers and stretches across Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary and Serbia.
      • The total area of the reserve is a million hectares, which makes it the largest riverine protected area on the continent.
      • It is also called as the ‘Amazon of Europe’.
  2. G-33 informal virtual ministerial meeting was organized by Indonesia, under the chairmanship of Muhammad Lutfi (Minister of Trade of Indonesia).
      • Piyush Goyal (Minister of Commerce and Industry) has addressed the meeting.
  3. During the 21st SCO Summit, Dushanbe Declaration has been adopted.
      • The declaration expressed support for making Afghanistan a free, peaceful, and independent state, among other issues.
  4. U.S. President Joe Biden has announced the Global Methane Pledge to cut methane emissions by a third by 2030.
      • The initiative is supported by European Union.
      • The Pledge was launched at the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate (MEF), hosted virtually by the White House.
      • Leaders from several countries and the EU, as well as UN Secretary General António Guterres and (India’s) Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, participated in the forum.
      • U.S. Climate Envoy John Kerry chaired a ministerial session with India, China, Russia and Germany. Kerry was on a visit to New Delhi before the forum.
      • Some 130 countries are considering a net zero emissions target by 2050.

      • LIC has also launched ‘LIC Mitra’ chatbot in English, Hindi and Marathi.
