        • Companies are required to invest at least Rs. 4,150 crore (USD 500 million) in India to manufacture electric four-wheelers (e-4W).
        • Foreign companies that meet scheme conditions can import up to 8,000 electric passenger cars annually at a reduced import duty of 15% for 5 years.
        • Imported electric cars must have a minimum cost, insurance and freight (CIF) price of USD 35,000.
        • A customs duty of 70-100% applies to cars imported as completely built units (CBUs), whether valued at less or more than USD 40,000.
        • Manufacturing facilities must begin operations within 3 years of MHI approval and must achieve a minimum domestic value addition of 25% within 3 years and 50% within 5 years.
        • The import duty reduction is limited to the amount invested or Rs. 6,484 crore, whichever is lower, and must be backed by a bank guarantee.
