  1. India’s first university for the cooperative sector may come up in New Delhi for which the Centre has already given its in-principle approval.

  1. India’s first university for the cooperative sector may come up in New Delhi for which the Centre has already given its in-principle approval.
      • At present, National Council for Cooperative Training is the only institution which provides education and training in the cooperative sector.
  2. The central government has raised the maximum tenure of the managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) of public sector banks (PSBs) to 10 years from 5 years while retaining the superannuation age at 60.
      • The MD or the executive director of a public sector undertaking bank was eligible for a maximum tenure of 5 years or until they reach 60, whichever was earlier.

  1. The Government of Karnataka has signed an MOU with Google to support its vision of promoting innovation and spurring the growth of startups across the state.
      • The Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS) will work with women-led founders and startups across tier 2 and tier 3 cities to offer essential training, access to partners, expertise on Google’s suite of tools and technologies.
      • The KITS will also offer knowledge and mentorship sessions in areas such as Cloud, User Experience, Android, Web, Product Strategy, Leadership and Marketing.
  2. Baliyatra has entered the Guinness World Record for making 22,000 paper boats in 35 minutes. The Guinness Record was created to raise global awareness about Cuttack’s Baliyatra in Odisha.
      • It is considered to be one of Asia’s largest open trade fairs.
      • The festival is held in Odisha, in the city of Cuttack at Gadagadia Ghat of the Mahanadi River, to mark the day when ancient Odia mariners set sail to distant lands of Bali, as well as Java, Sumatra, Borneo (all in Indonesia), and Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) for trade and cultural expansion.

      • The startups have been selected across different categories Construction Tech, Sales and FinTech and Sustainability Tech.
