  1. National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has launched an online tracking portal “Bal Swaraj (COVID-Care link)” for children in need of care and protection.
      • The portal will also be used to track children who have lost both their parents during COVID-19.
      • The “Bal Swaraj-COVID-Care” will track children affected by COVID-19 right from their production before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), to the restoration of the children to their parent, guardian, or relative, and its subsequent follow-up.
      • The “COVID-Care” link on the portal has been provided for the concerned officer or department to upload the data of such children.
  2. CSC E-Governance India Ltd (CSC SPV) has launched an e-marketplace or portalwww.cscagri.in – for agri services, mainly to help small farmers.
      • The CSC SPV is a special purpose vehicle under the Ministry of Electronics & IT to provide a host of electronic services to consumers through its common service centres.
      • Purpose -The portal can be accessed by farmers with support from local CSCs for buying agri-input products, renting and hire of agriculture implements and machinery, soil testing, sale of farm produce, tele-consultations, loan and insurance facility.
      • CSC SPV plans to reach out to 6,000 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), one in each block of the country, this year.
      • Farmers can take help from Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) who run the CSCs and FPOs, for connecting with buyers for selling their produce through Kisan e-Mart, the rural marketing arm of the CSC.
  3. Central govt has reconstituted the six empowered groups for Covid-19 management into 10 panels to expand their scope of operation.

  1. National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has commissioned the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) Sajag, which has been constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited.
      • Sajag is the third in a series of five offshore patrol vessels indigenously designed by GSL.
      • The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) was formally established on February 1, 1977, by the Coast Guard Act, 1978.

International News

  1. China has launched its cargo spacecraft called Tianzhou-2 (means “Heavenly Vessel”) on Long March-7 Y3 rocket from the Wenchang Space Launch Center on the southern island of Hainan.
      • Tianzhou-2 carried supplies for future astronauts including food for the Shenzhou-12 crew which will be launched next month for a three-month stay on the station, as well as two tons of propellant.
      • Tianzhou-2 is the second of 11 missions needed to complete China’s first self-developed space station named Tiangong-1 around 2022, and follows the launch of Tianhe, the first module, in late April.
      • Next year, China will launch the two other core modules — Wentian and Mengtian — using the Long March 5B (its biggest and most powerful space transport vehicle).

  1. OneWeb (a Low Earth Orbit satellite communications operator owned by Bharti Global and UK govt) has launched its next batch of 36 satellites.
      • The satellites were launched by Arianespace (European satellite launch company) from Russia’s spaceport named Vostochny cosmodrome.
      • Oneweb plans to launch 648 satellite for providing global connectivity. Out of this, 218 satellites have been launched so far, including the current launch.
      • The satellites are built by OneWeb Satellites – a OneWeb and Airbus joint venture facility in Florida.
      • The launch is a part of ‘Five to 50’ service, which will enable OneWeb to offer connectivity across the UK, Alaska, Northern Europe, Greenland, the Arctic Seas and Canada.
      • OneWeb plans to make global services available in 2022.
