      • It is a driverless taxi system which will drive power from electricity.
      • It will start running on the tracks as soon as flights start operating from Noida Airport.

  1. Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) has launched a new campaign called ‘KALA VISHWA’ special campaign, from its Mumbai Centre.
      • Kala Vishwas will be held for a duration of six months to reach out to traditional folk artists, local artistes / artisans and those coming from rural areas.
      • The platform will give them an opportunity to perform under this campaign, especially during the challenging time of COVID-19.
      • Currently, the Kala Vishwas campaign focuses on traditional art forms of Maharashtra and Goa.
  2. Chief Justice N V Ramana-led bench of the Supreme Court has launched FASTER (Fast and Secure Transmission of Electronic Records) mechanism.
      • The mechanism will help in delivering court orders to the prison officers at a fast pace to avoid delay in release of the innocent prisoners.
      • The bench which also had Justices L Nageswara Rao and AS Bopanna also issued notice to States/Union Territories for information on internet connectivity in their jails.
  3. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has organized the 2nd edition of Digital Conference & Exhibition “Aatmanirbhar Bharat – Self-Reliance for Renewable Energy Manufacturing”, in partnership with Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
      • India has to reduce its carbon intensity to 33% by 2030.
      • As per the Paris agreement, India has to produce 40% electricity of its total capacity from non-fossil sources by 2030.
      • IREDA is planning to launch its Initial Public Offer (IPO) in 3rd quarter in November-December 2021.
      • IREDA expects its loan book to grow from Rs. 28,000 crores (approx.) to Rs. 1,35,000 crores (approx.) by FY 2026, with financing to the entire value chain in RE sector.
      • By 2023-24, India will achieve 20% ethanol in petrol. The ultimate goal is 100% ethanol based vehicles.

State News

  1. Andhra Pradesh government has announced to launch ASAP Startup Promotion Scheme for early stage startups to offer plug-and-play office space (ready to use) and access to a network of investors and mentors.
      • ASAP stands for Accelerate Startups in AP.
      • It will also set up a Rs 100 crore ‘fund of funds’, in partnership with a consortium of Venture Capitals and Private Equity firms and universities, for funding startups in the state.
      • A Fund of Fund is a mutual fund scheme that invests in other mutual fund schemes.
      • The state will also set up incubation centres at different notified places for startups.
      • This has been announced in the state’s new AP Information Technology Policy 2021-24.
      • Startups in emerging digital technologies like augmented reality, virtual reality, Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence etc. will be provided priority in allotment of plug- and-play space, incubation centers, Centers of Excellence and prototyping labs on a variable chargeable basis.
  2. About AP Information Technology Policy 2021-24:

      • The AP Information Technology Policy 2021-24 aims at developing Visakhapatnam into a mega IT hub and creating four other IT hubs in Vijayawada, Kakinada, Tirupati and Anantapuramu.
      • Under the policy, an Integrated Technology Park in Visakhapatnam and three ‘IT Concept Cities’, close to the major existing IT ecosystems, will be established as a specially designated area in the state exclusively for the “development of a holistic industrial ecosystem”.
      • The government will establish an IT Emerging Technologies Research University in Visakhapatnam to develop AP as the leading contributor to the national talent pool in IT and cutting-edge emerging technologies.
      • Digital libraries and workplaces are proposed to be set up at Gram Panchayat level with access to high-speed Internet, six workstations and essential software.
  3. Karnataka has become the first state in India to provide 1% reservation for the ‘transgender’ community in all the government services.
      • Karnataka Civil Service (General Recruitment) Rule, 1977 was amended to provide this reservation.
  4. Himachal Pradesh govt has launched India’s first state-led phone donation campaign for online learning – ‘Digital Saathi- Baccho ka Sahara, Phone Humara‘ under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
      • The campaign aims to fill the digital divide in education by providing smartphones to the needy students.
      • Bollywood actress Yami Gautam is the face of this campaign.
  5. Rajasthan has launched Raj Kisan Organic mobile app to facilitate online purchase and sale of organic products in the state.
  6. Uttarakhand has celebrated Harela, a festival of greenery, peace, prosperity and environmental conservation in the month of Shravan (the fifth month of the Hindu lunar calendar) to worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
      • The seeds of five to seven types of crops — maize, til (sesame), urad (black gram), mustard, oats — are sown in donas (bowl made of leaves) or ringalare (hill bamboo baskets) nine days before the festival.
      • People make clay statues of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, known as Dikare, and worship them a day before the festival.

  1. Qatar Airways has become the first airline in the Middle East to join the IATA Turbulence Aware platform.
      • IATA’s Turbulence Aware platform – It helps airlines mitigate the impact of turbulence, a leading cause of passenger and crew injuries and higher fuel costs each year.
      • It abates the impact of turbulence by pooling and sharing turbulence data from multiple participating airlines and thousands of daily flights.
      • The real-time, accurate information enables pilots and dispatchers to choose optimal flight paths, avoiding turbulence and flying at optimum levels to maximise fuel efficiency and thereby reduce CO2 emissions.
      • The platform was launched in 2018.
  2. Singapore has inaugurated one of the world’s largest floating solar panel farms (60 MW), spanning an area equivalent to 45 football fields and producing enough electricity to power the island’s five water treatment plants.
      • Singapore plans to quadrupling its solar energy production by 2025 to help tackle climate change.
      • India’s biggest floating solar power plant by generation capacity (100 MW) is being developed by the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) at Ramagundam in Peddapalli district of Telangana.
      • The world’s largest floating 600 MW solar energy project to be constructed at Omkareshwar dam on Narmada river in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh will begin power generation by year 2022-23.
      • South Korea is also bidding for world’s largest solar power plant – Saemangeum – which will be of 2.1 GW capacity. But it is in the proposal stage right now.

  1. SEBI has introduced the expected loss-based rating scale for credit rating agencies.
      • Instruments rated ‘EL (Expected Loss) 1’ will be considered to have the lowest expected loss over the life of the instruments while those rated ‘EL 7’ will indicate highest expected loss.
      • In order to standardise the usage of rating scales, CRAs have been asked to align their rating scales with the rating scales prescribed under the guidelines of respective financial sector regulator or authority in terms of CRA Regulations, or in absence of the same, follow rating scales prescribed by Sebi.
      • The CRAs shall ensure compliance with the requirements of this circular, latest by March 31, 2022.
      • Further, the CRAs are advised to confirm compliance of this circular to SEBI latest by April 15, 2022.
