  1. Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), a laboratory of DRDO, has developed an antibody detection kit ‘DIPCOVAN‘.
      • ‘DIPCOVAN’ can detect spike as well as nucleocapsid (S&N) proteins of SARS-CoV-2 virus with a high sensitivity of 97% and specificity of 99%.
      • The kit been developed in association with Vanguard Diagnostics Pvt Ltd, a development and manufacturing diagnostics company, based in New Delhi.

  1. Supreme Court of India’s E-Committee has released a manual for its top citizen-centric service-free “e-Courts Services Mobile app” in 14 languages.
      • The “e-Courts Services Mobile app” is aimed to benefit litigants, citizens, lawyers, law firms, police, government agencies and other institutional litigants.
      • Dr Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud (Judge of Supreme Court of India and the Chairperson of e-Committee) wrote the foreword of the manual.
  2. Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment Dr Thaawarchand Gehlot virtually launched a 6- month Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) Program on rehabilitation of Divyangjan.
      • This would help to develop trained manpower for rehabilitation and development of Divyangjan to ensure their empowerment and inclusiveness in the society.
      • This program is designed by Rehabilitation Council of India and University of Melbourne.
      • In 2018, both countries signed an MoU for preparing this program.
  3. 51st edition of virtual Indian Handicraft and Gift Fair has been organized by Export Promotion Council for Handicraft.
      • It is the largest virtual fair in Home, Fashion, Lifestyle, Textile, and Furniture store.

  1. Haryana govt has launched ‘Sanjeevani Pariyojana’ to provide medical care to people in district in home isolation and having mild and moderate Covid-19 symptoms.
      • The project is supported by Deloitte.
      • Also, the pilot project ‘Swasth Karnal-Banega Misal’ will ensure medical assistance, including tele-consultation, homecare kit, field hospitals, etc to help patients fight Covid from home.

  1. ‘Protected Planet Report’ 2020 report has been released by IUCN and UNEPWorld Conservation Monitoring Centre.
      • This report reviews the progress made under the Convention on Biological Diversity’s Aichi Target 11. The Convention came into effect in 1993.
      • Aichi Target 11 (adopted in 2010) envisaged at least 17% of terrestrial and inland water, and 10% of coastal and marine areas, are conserved by 2020.
Protected Planet Report
Progress made:
• Around 21 million sq. km area – greater than the land area of the Russian Federation – has been added into the protected and conservation areas across the world since 2010.
• Other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs) have added a further 1.6 million km2 to the global network.
• Of the area now covered by protected areas and OECMs, 42% was added in the past decade.
• The next set of global targets for nature, the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, is due to be agreed at the UN Biodiversity Conference in Kunming, China, in October 2021.

      • In 2016, he became the first Indian to head the international federation of an Olympic sport.

  1. Rajesh Bansal has been appointed as the CEO of Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH).
      • The Innovation Hub was announced last year by the RBI with the aim to promote innovation across the financial sector by promoting fintech research and facilitate engagement with innovators and start-ups.

  1. 5th edition of India Biodiversity Awards was held. The awards were announced by Union environment minister on ‘International Biodiversity Day’.
      • The India Biodiversity Awards is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
