   • The US government’s Development Finance Corporation (DFC) also signed an agreement for a USD 10 million loan guarantee for Punjab Renewable Energy Systems, which will help fund the construction of seven biomass plants.
7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres have launched Mission LiFE, a global plan of action aimed at saving the planet from the disastrous consequences of climate change.
   • The launch comes ahead of next month’s mega UN climate meet in Egypt.
   • The action plan – a list of ideas on lifestyle changes that can be taken up as climate-friendly behaviour – along with the logo and tagline for Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) were jointly launched by Modi and Guterres.
   • Mission LiFE will strengthen the concept of a pro-people planet following a three-pronged strategy for changing people’s collective approach towards sustainability.
8. Union Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launched the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage and the pilot project of Balvatika 49 Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country.
   • The new 5+3+3+4 curricular structure integrates Early Childhood Care and Education for all children of ages 3 to 8.
   • Balvatika Classes for students in the age groups of 3+, 4+ and 5+ years of age is being introduced in a set of 49 Kendriya Vidyalayas.
   • Since more than 85% of a child’s cumulative brain development occurs prior to the age of 6, providing appropriate care to stimulate their brain and support their physical and emotional development is essential for every child.
   • All these engagements are aimed at achieving the three developmental goals of maintaining good health and well-being, becoming effective communicators, and becoming involved learners.
9. “KASHI TAMIL SANGAMAM” will be held from 16th Nov to 19th Dec 2022 in Varanasi (Kashi) under the overall framework and spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat”.

   • The committee will be headed by the principal chief conservator of forests of the state.

1. US-based Freedom House has released its annual Freedom in the World report for 2022.
   • The index is divided into three parts, which are the Global Freedom index, Internet Freedom index, and Democracy index.

2. Climate Transparency has released the “Climate Transparency Report 2022”.
   • The analysis covers adaptation, mitigation and finance, with 20 detailed country profiles of all G20 members and a summary of key findings. In 2022, the report especially highlights the link between the climate emergency and energy crisis.
   • India related facts –

• Over 1.7 million people die in India every year due to stroke, heart disease, lung cancer and chronic respiratory diseases as a result of outdoor air pollution. This is the highest death rate in the G20.

1. According to the World Steel Association (WSA), the global steel demand will reduce by 2.3% in 2022 due to increasing inflation and high interest rates.
   • Global recovery in steel demand next year is still expected, mainly due to a rise in infrastructure spending, but the growth will be 1% instead of 2.2% as forecast earlier this year.
   • Steel demand in China, which accounts for 51% of global consumption, is forecast to drop by 4% in 2022 and be flat next year.

2. HDFC Securities, a leading stock brokerage firm, has opened its first-ever women-only Digital Centre (DC) in Bengaluru.
   • The centre, staffed with a team of women, will serve both male and female investors.
   • The centre will cater to customers from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
3. Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSP) has signed an MOU with Greenko Group for supplying 1,000 MW of power from green electricity sources.
   • Greenko will supply clean power for JSP’s steel manufacturing operations at Angul, Odisha, mainly to meet the plant’s existing and incremental power demand.
4. Dell Technologies and NTT have built a green data centre for fintech major PhonePe using liquid immersion technology – a first in India – at Navi Mumbai.
   • This is also PhonePe’s first green data centre in India which will help the fintech reduce its carbon emissions and meet sustainability goals.
   • PhonePe has invested Rs 200 million for setting up data centres in India.

   • The annual award is given by the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on its founder Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s birth anniversary. This year, AMU is marking the 205th anniversary of Sir Syed.
