  1. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has inaugurated the Centre for Nanotechnology (CNT) and the Centre for Indian Knowledge System at IIT-Guwahati.
  2. Indian Railways has launched Bharat Gaurav trains, that will be operated by private players on theme-based circuits, to promote and attract tourism business.
      • Each train will have between 14 and 20 coaches (including two guard coaches or SLR).
      • Under the Bharat Gaurav policy, any operator or service provider, can lease trains from Indian Railways to run on a theme-based circuit as a special tourism package. For e.g. Ramayana theme based train, will connect several places connected to Lord Ram.
      • The operator will be able to decide route and tariff. The tenure of the arrangement is a minimum of 2 years and maximum of the codal life of the coach.

      • The state has also signed an agreement with Common Service Centre for strengthening its Public Distribution System.

      • The govt aims to open –
        • 2,200 gaushalas (cow shelters),
        • six gaushalas as training centres,
        • To restart eight Gau Sadans
        • To develop Salaria Gau Sanctuary of Agar-Malwa district as a model sanctuary
        • To set up a Gauvansh Van Vihar in Jabalpur district.

  1. ‘Health Care Equity in Urban India’ report has been released by Azim Premji University, in collaboration with 17 regional NGOs across India.
      • As per the report, life expectancy among the poorest is lower by 1 years and 6.2 years among men and women, respectively, compared to the richest in urban areas.
      • It also looks at the availability, accessibility and cost of healthcare facilities, and possibilities in future-proofing services in the next decade.
      • One third of India’s people now live in urban areas. Urban areas grew from about 18% (1960) to 28.53% (2001) to 34% (in 2019). Close to 30% of people living in urban areas are poor.
