  1. Union Cabinet has approved the PM Gati Shakti plan and released its implementation framework.
      • An Empowered Group of Secretaries (EGOS), headed by the Cabinet Secretary (Incumbent: Rajiv Gauba), will be set up to review and monitor the implementation of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan to ensure logistics efficiency.
      • The EGOS will also have secretaries of 18 ministries as members, among others.
  2. Union Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary, Durga Shanker Mishra, has announced that the online building permission system will be implemented across all cities of India by March 2022.
      • At present, this system is working in about 2,500 cities to facilitate ease of doing business in the real estate sector.
  3. NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has launched “Innovations for You” book to showcase success stories of Atal Innovation Mission’s Startups in different domains.
      • The book is a compilation of 45 health tech startups, incubated at Atal Incubation Centres spread across the country.
      • The subsequent editions of the digi-book series will focus on other emerging sectors like AgriTech, EduTech, Mobility, EV among others.
  4. Union Cabinet has approved a 3% increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief for central government employees and pensioners.
      • Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief will go up from 28% to 31% and the increase will be effective from July 1, 2021.

  1. J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has announced the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) project of J&K Police “Go-Live”.
      • CCTNS will make the Police function citizen-friendly and more transparent by automating the functioning of Police Stations, besides simplifying the process to access services from the police.
      • The L-G has also launched the “JK eCOP” mobile application to provide all police-related services on one platform to the citizens.
      • The public can register complaints, share information with the police, report Accidents & Traffic Violations, besides availing of various Citizen Services.
  2. Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel has launched the Shri Dhanwantri Generic Medical Store Scheme.
      • 84 Dhanwantri Generic Medical Stores were inaugurated in the state.
      • Under this scheme, medicines will be made available at low and affordable rates to consumers.
      • In order to enhance universal health coverage and reduce the out of pocket expenditure of the citizens, the state is also running Chief Minister’s Haat Bazar Clinic Scheme and Chief Minister’s Urban Slum Health Scheme to provide better health services in inaccessible places as well as urban areas.
      • Besides, Dai-Didi Clinic Scheme has also been started for women and adolescent girls.
  3. NABARD has sanctioned Rs 608 crore to Assam govt for different infrastructure projects in rural areas in Assam.
      • The fund has been sanctioned through the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF).

  1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has launched a first of its kind web-based project monitoring portal for military engineer services (MES).
      • Armed forces will also be able to use this portal.
      • The portal has been developed by the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG-G), Gandhinagar.
      • It will enable real time monitoring of projects from its inception to completion.
      • The MES is also planning to launch 9 other digital portals to increase efficiency and transparency. The portals are:
        • Product Approval Portal, AWMP Scrutiny & Status Application, E-Measurement Book, Budget Management Portal, Work Estimation Application, Billing and Construction Account Management, Cashbook Management and Accounting System, Contractor and Consultant Enlistment Portal & E-Deviation.
        • These apps will be amalgamated into singular Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) by mid of next year.

Financial Action Task Force
  1. United Nations has set up a special trust fund to provide urgently-needed cash directly to Afghans.
      • Germany has become the first donor of this fund with $58 millions contribution.
      • According to IMF, Afghanistan’s economy is set to contract 30% in 2021-22. This can trigger a refugee crisis in the neighbouring countries of Afghanistan.
      • Central Bank’s assets have been frozen and food prices have soared since the Taliban takeover.

      • It has elected Dame Sandra Mason as its first-ever President, who will take oath on November 30, which is the independence day of Barbados.
      • Dame Sandra Mason has been serving as the governor-general since 2018. She is the first woman to serve on the Barbados Court of Appeals.
      • Barbados, also referred to as “Little England”, was claimed by the British in 1625. Barbados gained its independence from Britain on November 30th, 1966.

  1. British satellite operator Inmarsat Holdings Ltd became the first foreign operator to get India’s approval to sell high-speed broadband to planes and shipping vessels.
      • Inmarsat will collaborate with the BSNL for this project.
      • Inmarsat was already providing low-data “L-band” services in India. Now, it will provide much faster 4G-like “Ka-band” broadband on its GX network.
      • Inmarsat has struck deals with Indian airline SpiceJet Ltd and the Shipping Corp of India Ltd for providing in-flight internet services.
  2. Bharti AXA Life Insurance has entered into a bancassurance partnership with Utkarsh Small Finance Bank Limited (USFBL) for the distribution of life insurance products through the bank’s network of branches across the country.
  3. HDFC Bank, Mastercard, the US government’s Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) have launched a $100 million credit facility to help Indian small businesses.
      • Through this facility, credit access will be enhanced for the small businesses, which are new to credit / loans. 50% of the aid will be provided to women entrepreneurs.
      • Roles
        • HDFC will extend the loans to SMEs and Women.
        • Mastercard, in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Confederation of All Indian Traders (CAIT), will provide skills training and education to small business owners on their digitisation options.
          • Beyond this, Mastercard will also help small businesses increase their revenue, by conducting different philanthropic training programmes.
          • This will be a part of Mastercard’s Rs 250-crore commitment to enable small businesses in India to recover from the pandemic.
        • DFC and USAID will provide monetary support to HDFC to extend the credit.
          • DFC’s assistance is a part of DFC’s 2X Women’s Initiative.
          • Through this initiative, DFC invests in projects that are owned by women, led by women, or provide a product or service that empowers women.
  4. Rupifi and Flipkart Wholesale (the digital B2B platform of Flipkart) have partnered for offering Buy Now, Pay Later service to the MSMEs shopping on Flipkart Wholesale.
      • This will help 1.5 lakh Kiranas and MSMEs members on Flipkart Wholesale get instant and digital credit, with flexible repayment terms and transparent pricing.
  5. Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), PSU, has become the first NBFC to successfully raise a USD 75 million five year secured overnight finance rate (SOFR) linked Syndicated Term Loan from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC).
      • This is for the first time that an Indian NBFC managed SOFR from an International Bank.
      • REC Limited is a Navratna NBFC focusing on Power Sector Financing and Development across India.
  6. Intel has launched the Intel Unnati Program to help equip engineering students in India with industry-relevant data-centric skills.
      • Under the program, Intel plans to setup 100 Intel Unnati Data Centric Labs in 2022.
      • Each Intel Unnati lab includes hardware and software stack recommendations from Intel, course content and co-branded course completion certificates for students.
      • The Intel Unnati Program has been piloted across 15 colleges that are in the process of setting up Centres of Excellence on their campuses.
      • Intel has committed to expanding digital readiness to reach 30 million people in 30,000 institutions in 30 countries by 2030.
