  1. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has released the results of PAN-India survey for identifying the presence of industrially produced trans fatty acid content in the selected foods has been released.
      • Overall, only 84 samples, i.e. 1.34%, have more than 3% industrially produced trans fats from the total of 6245 samples.
      • FSSAI has also launched the Eat Right Research Awards and Grants to encourage and recognize high-quality research in the area of food safety and nutrition in India.
      • Also, 24 food businesses signed a pledge on becoming “Plastic Waste Neutral” by collecting, processing and recycling of 100% post-consumer plastic waste from across the sources.
  2. Central Government has allowed IAS, IPS and IFoS officers to retain gifts that they receive from foreign dignitaries while being members of the Indian delegation.
      • Earlier, these officers could only receive gifts from relatives (excluding any official transactions) on certain occasions.
      • But they shall make a report to the government if the value of such gift exceeds Rs 25,000.
      • The All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968, applicable to the officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Forest Service (IFoS), have been amended.
      • Gifts received from foreign dignitaries, from known or unknown sources, are usually deposited with the ‘toshakhana’ — a repository of such articles — in the Ministry of External Affairs.
  3. Ministry of Commerce and Industry has launched National Single Window System for Investors and Businesses to bring transparency, accountability and responsiveness in the ecosystem.
      • 18 central departments across 9 states are covered by this portal, at present.

Memorandum of understanding

  1. Department of Food and Public Distribution has signed an MoU with CSC e-Governance Services India Limited to offer the services of CSC through the Fair Price Shop (FPS) dealers.
      • Aim – to increase the business opportunities and income of Fair Price Shop dealers.
      • For enabling FPSs to work as a CSC Service Centre, CSC has been advised to identify feasible activities like Utility Bill payments, PAN Application, Passport Application, Election Commission Services etc. to facilitate the consumer and simultaneously provide additional income to the FPSs.
      • Further, CSC will partner with individual State Government for signing up of bilateral MoU for providing interested FPS dealers access to Digital Seva Portal (DSP) for delivery of CSC services.
  2. Directorate General of Civil Aviation of India (DGCA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have signed a working arrangement to strengthen their relationship and to achieve common safety and environmental protection standards.
      • The agreement will also help to achieve India’s true potential to becoming an important centre for designing and manufacturing of aircraft and engines.
  3. TRIFED has signed an MoU with BigBasket to make available the van dhan products on Big Basket’s platform (Bigbasket.com).
      • TRIFED has also signed an MoU with PurtyAgrotech to promote the art of growing pearls among the tribal entrepreneurs.
      • TRIFED will create a market for this unique craft and at the same time assist PurtyAgrotech in developing a more professional and business-oriented enterprise.

      • IPPB will distribute Tata’s insurance products to its customers.
  3. Bank of Baroda and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited have launched an international co-branded RuPay NCMC Platinum contactless debit card.
      • Users of this card will get discounts on fuel purchase from BPCL’s outlets.
      • Additional benefits include accidental insurance, concierge services, domestic airport lounges etc.
  4. PayPoint India has partnered with Bank of Baroda to act as the Business Correspondent (BC) of BoB for providing banking services across the country.
      • The bank has already launched ‘BOB NOWW-New Operating model and Ways of Working’ that aims to increase the branch network through digital formats and business correspondent network.
      • Thus, this partnership is under BOB NOWW initiative.
