   • The Ministry of Education is the implementing ministry of this program.
   • Organiser: Ministry of Education in collaboration with other ministries like Culture, Textiles, Railways, Tourism, Food Processing, I&B etc and Uttar Pradesh Government.
   • This programme is in sync with National Education Policy 2020’s emphasis on integrating the wealth of Indian Knowledge Systems with modern systems of knowledge.

State News

1. Buddhavanam, a first-of-its-kind Buddhist heritage theme park, has been developed by the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation at Nagarjunasagar in Nalgonda district.
2. The state-owned North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) has developed the 600 MW Kameng hydropower project.
   • It is situated in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district.
   • Arunachal Pradesh accounts for 40% of India’s hydropower potential. Therefore, this state is considered the “powerhouse of India”.
   • The state has a potential of generating a hydropower potential of 50,064 MW. Despite this huge potential, the actual utilization is less than 800 MW.
   • Arunachal Pradesh aims to become a power-surplus state.

1. 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit was held in Bangkok on the theme of “OPEN, CONNECT and BALANCE”.
   • The US will host the Apec summit of 2023.
   • All the member countries agreed to push forward the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP), a regional economic integration.

1. Dr Angraj Khillan, who hails from Essendon, has been named Victoria’s Australian of the Year 2023.
   • Khillan is an Australian-Indian paediatrician who has been honoured for delivering key healthcare and health education to several Australian communities.
2. 14th Dalai Lama was conferred the Gandhi Mandela Award 2022 at Thekchen Choeling in Dharamshala’s McleodGanj by Himachal Pradesh governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.
   • The Tibetan spiritual leader has received the peace prize from the New Delhi-based Gandhi Mandela Foundation for the qualities of non-violence and compassion.
3. Ministry of Education has awarded the 3rd edition of the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar for the 2021-22 academic session up on 39 schools from across the country.
   • 34 schools won in the overall category and received a prize of Rs 60,000, whereas 5 schools won in sub-categories and received Rs 20,000 as prize money.
   • Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education launched the Swachh Vidyalaya Initiative in 2014 and the Puraskar in 2016-17.
   • UNICEF is the technical partner for it.
   • It honours the schools that have done exemplary work in the field of water, sanitation and hygiene.
