      • IIT-Madras and Banaras Hindu University are the implementing agencies of this collaboration.
      • The Ministry of Education is the implementing ministry of this program.
      • Organiser: Ministry of Education in collaboration with other ministries like Culture, Textiles, Railways, Tourism, Food Processing, I&B etc and Uttar Pradesh Government.
      • This programme is in sync with National Education Policy 2020’s emphasis on integrating the wealth of Indian Knowledge Systems with modern systems of knowledge.

      • The announcement was made by the Union Minister at the recently concluded “INMARCO 2022” event in Mumbai.

• Clydebank Declaration –
o It was adopted in COP 26 in Glasgow, Scotland.
o It aims to make six green shipping corridors.
• Maritime Vision Document 2030 –
o The Maritime Vision Document 2030 is a 10 Year blueprint of India’s vision of a sustainable Maritime sector and vibrant blue economy.
• IMO Green Voyage 2050 –
o India has been selected as the first country under the IMO Green Voyage 2050 project to conduct a pilot project related to Green Shipping.
o GreenVoyage2050 Project is a partnership project between the Government of Norway and IMO launched in May 2019 aiming to transform the shipping industry towards a lower carbon future.
o The global partnership is supporting developing countries, including Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) and Least Developed Countries (LDCs), in meeting their energy efficiency goals.
• Targets –
o India intends to increase the share of renewable energy to 60% of the total power demand of each of its major ports from a present share of less than 10%. This will be through solar and wind-generated power.
o The ports have also aimed to reduce Carbon emissions per ton of cargo handled by 30% by 2030.
• Achievements –
o India has already achieved more than 24.5% share of Renewable Energy in total Installed Capacity.
o Globally, India stands 4th in RE power capacity, 4th in Wind power, and 5th in Solar Power capacity.

  1. Buddhavanam, a first-of-its-kind Buddhist heritage theme park, has been developed by the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation at Nagarjunasagar in Nalgonda district.
  2. The state-owned North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) has developed the 600 MW Kameng hydropower project.
      • It is situated in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district.
      • Arunachal Pradesh accounts for 40% of India’s hydropower potential. Therefore, this state is considered the “powerhouse of India”.
      • The state has a potential of generating a hydropower potential of 50,064 MW. Despite this huge potential, the actual utilization is less than 800 MW.
      • Arunachal Pradesh aims to become a power-surplus state.

      • The US will host the Apec summit of 2023.

      • The Tibetan spiritual leader has received the peace prize from the New Delhi-based Gandhi Mandela Foundation for the qualities of non-violence and compassion.
  3. Ministry of Education has awarded the 3rd edition of the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar for the 2021-22 academic session up on 39 schools from across the country.
      • 34 schools won in the overall category and received a prize of Rs 60,000, whereas 5 schools won in sub-categories and received Rs 20,000 as prize money.
      • Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education launched the Swachh Vidyalaya Initiative in 2014 and the Puraskar in 2016-17.
      • UNICEF is the technical partner for it.
