     • India is the largest consumer and the second-largest producer of sugar globally, holding about 15% share in global sugar consumption and 20% in sugar production.
     • India is a key player in the International Sugar Organisation (ISO) with around 90 countries as members.
   • Ethanol Production and Commitment to Green Energy–
     • India is the third-largest country in the world in ethanol production after the USA and Brazil.
     • Demonstrates commitment to green energy, using surplus sugar production for ethanol to reduce fossil fuel imports.
     • Ethanol blending percentage increased from 5% in 2019-20 to 12% in 2022-23.
   • International Collaborations–
     • National Sugar Institute, Kanpur has collaborated with several countries for technology transfer and best practices.
     • Collaborations with countries including Indonesia, Nigeria, Egypt, Fiji, etc., to share the latest technologies in the sugar sector.

     • To enhance the quality and affordability of tertiary health care and medical education in Maharashtra.

2. 7th edition of Bengal Global Business Summit has been held in Kolkata, West Bengal.
   • Key details–
     • West Bengal has received investment proposals worth over ₹3.76 lakh crore.
     • Around 25 Letter of Intent have been signed in the healthcare sector amounting to proposals of around Rs 7,933 crore.
     • IT & IT enabled services sector has received five MoUs with investment proposals of around Rs 4,000 crore.
     • Uber has proposed to invest $10 million by 2025 in the state and create approximately 50,000 livelihood opportunities in Kolkata in the next 5 years.
     • Proposals for school education and higher education worth Rs 1,676 crore and ₹360 crore have been received respectively.

1. Directorate General of Foreign Trade has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Amazon India to enable micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and boost e-commerce exports from the country.
   • Objective–
     • The core objective is to leverage e-commerce platforms to support local exporters, manufacturers, and MSMEs in reaching potential international buyers.
   • More about MoU–
     • Amazon and DGFT will co-create capacity-building sessions, training, and workshops for MSMEs in districts identified under the initiative.
     • The collaboration aligns with the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, which identifies e-commerce as a focus area to amplify India’s exports.
     • The MoU with Amazon India initially covers 20 districts for capacity-building and handholding sessions.
     • The overarching goal is to make substantial strides towards the target of achieving $1 trillion in goods exports by the year 2030.
