  1. CII Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has launched ‘IGBC Mission on Net Zero’ to facilitate ‘India achieve net zero carbon emission status by 2050’.
      • More than 250 leading organisations in building sector have committed to achieve Net Zero status for their new and existing buildings.

      • Names – Shree Rambha Higher Secondary School, Shree Laxmi Higher Secondary School and Shree Nava Adarsha Multiple Campus.
  2. DRDO has developed SpO2 (Blood Oxygen Saturation) supplemental Oxygen Delivery System for soldiers posted at extreme high-altitude areas.
      • The system is developed by Defence Bio-Engineering & Electro Medical Laboratory (DEBEL), Bengaluru of DRDO.
      • The system delivers supplemental oxygen based on the SpO2 levels.

State News

  1. 37th Siachen Day is observed on 13th April by India.
      • On April 13 1984, India hoisted tricolour at world’s highest battlefield. Siachen glacier in Kashmir is considered the most challenging battlefield due to extreme terrain.
  2. Andhra Pradesh has signed an MoU with Microsoft for imparting digital skills to 1.62 lakh students and unemployed youth across 300 plus colleges and skill development centres in the state.
      • This is the first of its kind MoU by the state to cover all graduates.
  3. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam has signed a first of its kind power purchase agreement with Coal India.
      • Coal India will sell 100 MW solar power to GUVNL.
      • The tenure of the agreement period is for 25 years.
      • It is the first time the world’s largest coal producing company is stepping into solar power.
      • Coal India has rolled out a plan for 3,000 MW of solar power generation by 2024.

  1. Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and Start-up Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur have partnered.
      • Purpose – to provide opportunities to tech-based start-ups for a circular economy and an entrepreneurial ecosystem.
      • Both organisations have launched “SICCI-SIIC INNOVATION LAUNCHPAD” challenge for startups.
  2. IIT Kharagpur and the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) have signed an MoU to set up an Accelerator Centre for Research & Development at the institute.
      • This MoU will provide the opportunity of innovation & incubation assistance to carry out activities like technology and product development.

  1. Gambia has become the second African country to eliminate Trachoma. In 2018, Ghana became the first country in Africa to do so.
      • Trachoma is one of the leading causes of blindness. It is a contagious bacterial infection of the eye, causing inflamed granulation on the inner surface of the lids.
