  1. Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has launched a “unique” face recognition technology that would act as a proof of ‘life certificate’ for pensioners.
      • All pensioners are mandated to submit their life certificate annually to continue receiving pension.
      • The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has already implemented a facility of giving the certificate digitally. The face recognition would further ease the process for pensioners.
      • In 2017, Department of Pension had launched the ‘Bhavishya’ online platform in all central ministries and departments for processing pension cases.

      • The report highlights the government’s expenditure on health.
      • It has been prepared by National Health Systems Resource Centre.

    • The Conclave was attended by participants from 20 countries.

4. 7th edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF) has been launched in New Delhi.

    • IISF is an annual event considered to be the biggest platform in the country which brings together students, the public, researchers, innovators and artists from around the globe to experience the joy of doing science for the wellbeing of people and humanity.
    • The theme of IISF 2021 is ‘Celebrating Creativity in Science, Technology and Innovation for Prosperous India’.
    • The programmes will be categorised under five sections.
      • Freedom Struggle – the role of the scientific community in Indian independence
      • Ideas@75 – to discuss new science and technology (S&T) ideas for new India
      • Achievements@75 – to showcase the S&T achievements of our country in the past 75 years
      • Actions@75 – to chart an S&T action plan for new India.
      • Resolves@75 – to come up with resolutions related to S&T towards achieving Atma Nirbhar Bharat in areas

  1. Assam government has launched the ‘Assam Micro Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme, 2021’ for rolling out the microfinance loan waiver scheme to give relief to 24 lakh women in the state.
  2. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has addressed the Bangladesh International Investment Summit.
      • He suggested five focus areas including trade, connectivity, health and tourism for further enhancing economic ties between India and Bangladesh.
      • Bangladesh is India’s biggest trade partner in South Asia with a volume of over USD 10 billions of trade and both the countries are looking to advance the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

  1. Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) had sanctioned Kaveri Engine project in 1989 for development of engines in the country.
      • At present, the LCA Tejas is integrated with an imported engine. But, the future aim is to develop indigenous engines for powering aircrafts.
      • The technological capabilities built through the Kaveri engine project will be utilised.

    1. Bengaluru-based India1 Payments has crossed a milestone of deploying 10,000-white-lable ATMs which are labelled as India1 ATMs.
        • India1 Payments is promoted by the Banktech Group of Australia and formerly known as BTI Payments.
    2. Skyroot Aerospace, a Hyderabad-based space technology startup, has test fired India’s first privately developed fully cryogenic rocket engine named Dhawan-1.
        • This engine will be fitted in the Vikram-2 launch vehicle.
        • Vikram series of rockets / launch vehicles are also being developed by Skyroot Aerospace.
        • In December last year, Skyroot Aerospace test-fired its Kalam-5 rocket engine for its Vikram rocket.
        • This year, Skyroot signed an agreement with ISRO to use the latter’s facilities for launching its small satellites.
