  2. Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved the “Bharat New Car Assessment Programme” (Bharat NCAP) – India’s own vehicle safety assessment agency – to start functioning from April 1, 2023.
      • The testing will be done for the motor vehicles of category M1 (motor vehicles used for the carriage of passengers, comprising eight seats, in addition to driver’s seat) with gross vehicle weight less than 3.5 tonnes, manufactured or imported in the country.
      • This system is equivalent to the Star Ratings for Indian cars based on crash tests. It will allocate Star Ratings from 1 to 5 stars.
      • The government aims to reduce 50% road accident deaths by 2024.
  3. India will host the G-20 Summit 2023 in Jammu and Kashmir.
      • The J&K government has constituted a five-member high-powered panel, chaired by principal secretary to the housing and urban development department, for overall coordination of G20 meetings.

      • TANCAM has been established by Dassault System and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) on the hub and spoke model.
      • Two Centres of ExcellenceTamil Nadu Smart and Advanced Manufacturing Centre (TANSAM) in collaboration with M/s. Siemens and Tamil Nadu Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence (TAMCOE) in collaboration with GE Aviation — are expected to be commissioned soon.
      • All these launches were made at the Tamil Nadu Advanced Manufacturing Conclave 2022.

  1. Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRSAM), indigenously developed shipborne weapon system, has been successfully flight tested by the DRDO and Indian Navy off the coast of Chandipur in Odisha.
      • The VL-SRSAM system has been designed to strike at the high-speed airborne targets at the range of 40km to 50km and at an altitude of around 15km.
      • Developers of this missile – Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) and Research Centre Imarat (RCI), both from Hyderabad, and Research & Development Establishment (Engineers), Pune

      • ASKO Maritime is the largest supermarket chain in Norway and aims to achieve zero carbon emission goals in its logistic service by 2026.
      • The vessels were designed by Naval Dynamics, Norway.

      • It aims at accelerating indigenous development of 5G in line with the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Start-up India’.
      • C-DOT was established in 1984 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, as an autonomous body under the Department of Telecommunications for research and development.
  4. RBI has extended the card-on-file (CoF) tokenisation deadline by 3 months to September 30, 2022.
      • Card-on-file (CoF) refers to card information stored by payment gateway and merchants to process future transactions.
      • Tokenisation is the process of replacing actual card details with a unique alternate code called ‘Token’ – thereby enabling more secure transactions.
  5. In a first, the Chhattisgarh-based South Eastern Coalfield Limited (SECL), an undertaking of the state-owned Coal India Limited (CIL), has decided to establish into power production in Chhattisgarh.
      • SECL has signed an MoU with the Madhya Pradesh Power Generation Company Limited (MPPGCL) for setting up a 660-MW unit.

      • The compensation cess collection is budgeted at Rs 1.2 lakh crore for the current financial year.

      • IDRCL is a private sector company controlled by private sector banks that own a 51% share.
      • Its seven-member board is chaired by former SBI executive Diwakar Gupta.
