      • Besides Lal, Govind Iyer and Pankaj Bansal will be part of the task force.
  2. Ministry for Social Justice & Empowerment has launched the website for the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
      • The ministry has also organized a 6-day Nasha Mukt Bharat Summit which ended with the e-launch of several initiatives undertaken by the Ministry for the prevention of Drug Abuse.
      • According to the National Comprehensive Survey conducted by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, there are more than 60 million drug users in the country of which a large number of users are in the age group of 10-17 years.
      • Nasha Mukt Abhiyan is launched in 272 districts of open to make them drug – free.
      • The Ministry aims to declare at least 100 districts drug free as part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations.

  1. Hemis Festival (2 days festival) is celebrated in Ladakh at the Hemis monastery in Hemis, Ladakh.
      • The festival is celebrated on the 10th day of the 5th month of Tibetan Lunar calendar.
      • This date is believed to be the birth anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava, popularly known as the second Buddha.
      • People perform “Cham Dance” (a mask dance) to celebrate the victory of good over evil as part of this festival.

  1. Global Alliance for Mass Entrepreneurship (GAME) and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) have partnered to help MSMEs address their challenges that arose during the pandemic.
      • The broad themes covered under the partnership include expanding credit access, increasing formalisation, building competitive clusters, and improving the legal framework for ease of doing business.
      • At least 25% of the beneficiaries from the partnership would be women entrepreneurs.
      • GAME is headquartered in Karnataka.
  2. Mastercard has announced to invest in Instamojo. This investment is aimed at empowering millions of MSMEs and gig workers by helping them to digitize and set up online stores, digital payment acceptance infrastructure and reach out to customers, even during the pandemic.
  3. World Bank has approved Rs 1,860 crores for implementing the SALT program of Andhra Pradesh.
      • SALT stands for Supporting Andhra’s Learning Transformation.
      • The program aims at strengthening foundation schools and providing training and skill development to teachers.
      • There is a dire need to improve foundational learning and the quality of education in government schools.
  4. NTPC (India’s largest power producer) has set a target to install 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.
      • The NTPC is also aiming 10% reduction in net energy intensity by 2032.
      • NTPC has become India’s first energy company to declare its energy compact goals as part of the UN High-level Dialogue on Energy (HLDE).
      • The targets were announced at the ‘Ministerial Thematic Forums for the HDLE’.
      • United Nations will convene a high-level dialogue in September 2021 to promote the implementation of energy-related goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
  5. Ministry of Corporate Affairs has notified the Companies (Accounting Standards) Rules, 2021 under the Companies Act, 2013.
      • Definition of small and medium companies has been revised in the rules.
      • Under the revised SMC definition, the turnover limit has been increased from Rs 50 crore to not exceeding Rs 250 crore with enhanced borrowing limits.
      • The rules specifically provide accounting standards and guidelines for SMCs.

      • CVC was created in 1964 on the recommendations of the Committee on Prevention of Corruption, headed by Shri K. Santhanam, to advise and guide Central Government agencies in the field of vigilance.
      • The commission is headed by the CVC and can have a maximum of two vigilance commissioners.
