      • Also, for the first time, Ship-to-ship operations of LPG was undertaken at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata by BPCL.

      • The program has been organized during the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (October).
  4. 6th edition of the ‘Pune Dialogue on National Security (PDNS)’ 2021 was addressed by the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
      • The two-day virtual conference has been convened by the Pune International Centre (PIC), in association with the Policy Perspectives Foundation (PPF), New Delhi, The Tribune Trust, Chandigarh and the Centre for Advanced Strategic Studies (CASS), Pune.
      • The theme of this year’s conference is ‘National Security Preparedness in the Age of Disasters and Pandemics’.
  5. Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, has launched the 6th edition of National Formulary of India (NFI).
      • NFI has been published by Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) to promote rational use of medicines in the country.
      • NFI 2021 would act as a guidance document for all the healthcare professionals such as clinicians, pharmacists, nurses, dentists etc.
      • The NFI is aligned with National Health Programmes and National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM).
  6. CII Asia Health 2021 summit was organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry on the theme of ‘Transforming Healthcare for a Better Tomorrow’.
      • The Government is focussing on its theme of ‘From Token to Total Health’.
      • To achieve this, the govt has recently launched PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.

      • This is the 40th mission of China in 2021.

      • It is located at Southern Power’s Shinincheon Bitdream Centre.
  3. India’s Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sushil Chandra has led a three-member delegation to Uzbekistan in October’21 to oversee the country’s presidential election.

  2. World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has released the Greenhouse Gas Bulletin.
      • Gases
        • CO2 – Increased by 149% from the pre-industrial level
        • Methane (CH4) – increased by 262% from the pre-industrial level
        • Nitrous oxide (N2O) – increased by 123% from the pre-industrial level (1750 A.D.)
      • Global Warming –
        • From 1990 to 2020, the warming effect on our climate due to the GHG increased by 47%, with CO2 accounting for about 80% of this increase.
        • The last time, Earth experienced a comparable concentration of CO2 was 3-5 million years ago, when the temperature was 2-3°C warmer and sea level was 10-20 meters higher than now.
      • Carbon Sink –
        • The ocean and land ecosystem can absorb only half of the carbon released in the atmosphere. That means, the residual remains in the atmosphere, leading to increase in the temperature.
  3. Bengaluru-based non-profit think tank, Public Affairs Centre (PAC), has released the Public Affairs Index 2021.
      • Toppers in Large states – Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana
      • Toppers in Small states – Sikkim, Goa and Mizoram

      • Parameters – equity, growth and sustainability
      • About the index – The study is an annual assessment of the adequacy and quality of governance in states.
        • The index measured the implementation of the centrally sponsored-programmes of rural employment guarantee scheme, national health mission, integrated child development service, Samagra Siksha Abhiyan and mid-day meal scheme.
        • The study also included Covid-19 response index to measure governments’ response to Covid-19.

      • Sunfresh Agro Industries Pvt Ltd (based in Maharashtra) is the local branch of global dairy major Lactalis (which is headquartered in France).
  3. RBI’s holding of gold in foreign exchange reserves has increased by about 11% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 743.84 metric tonnes as on September-end 2021 against 668.25 metric tonnes as on September-end 2020.
      • The data is mentioned in RBI’s half yearly report – Management of Foreign Exchange Reserves: April-September 2021.
      • However, in value terms, the share of gold in the reserves declined to about 5.88% against about 6.69% in the year-ago period.
  4. Larsen and Toubro Ltd has won the contract for developing three buildings of the new Common Central Secretariat.
      • The contract has been given by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD).
