      • She also laid the foundation stone for the Zonal Institute of Virology (South Zone) virtually on the occasion.
  2. Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has conducted two successful test flights of Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missiles capable of neutralising low altitude aerial threats at short ranges.
      • VSHORADS missiles were launched from a ground-based portable launcher at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) of the DRDO at Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha.
      • The missile is a Man Portable Air Defence System (MANPAD) designed and developed indigenously by DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad.
  3. Swedish defence major Saab has announced to set up a manufacturing facility in India for production of its Carl-Gustaf M4 weapon systems.
      • It will be the firm’s first manufacturing facility for Carl-Gustaf M4 outside Sweden.
      • The production of the shoulder-fired weapons having a range of 1,500 metres will start in 2024.

      • The announcement was made at ADB’s 55th annual meeting at its headquarters in Manila, Philippines from September 26-30.
      • Nearly 1.1 billion people lack healthy diets due to poverty and food prices in Asia and the Pacific, which have soared to record highs this year.
      • While USD 3.3 billion of the total funding is used in 2022, the rest of USD 10.7 billion will be spread over 2023-25.

      • Founded in 2011, PoshVine offers payments-linked loyalty and engagement solutions to banks, payment networks, and businesses.
  3. JMC Projects (India) has signed a contract to develop the Hanimaadhoo International Airport Development Project in Maldives.
      • India is providing $800 million financing for this project.
