      • The Act extends the time period to 5 years.
  2. MeitY Startup Hub (MSH), an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), and Meta have announced the list of 120 startups and innovators for the XR Startup Program.
      • As announced in September 2022, XR Startup Program is a collaboration between MSH and Meta to discover, nurture, and accelerate Extended Reality (XR) technology startups and innovators across India.

  1. Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is developing a Mega International Container Transhipment Port (ICTP) at Galathea Bay of Great Nicobar Island of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in Bay of Bengal.
      • The proposed facility is envisaged to be developed in four phases with the total estimated cost of ~INR 41,000 crore.
      • Phase 1 is proposed to be commissioned in 2028.
  2. National Statistical Office (NSO) has released the progress report on the Twenty Point Program.
      • The report focused on the third phase of the PM Gram Sadak Yojana.
      • As per the report, the length of rural roads constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) has again fallen short of its target.

  1. Ministry of Education has released the All-India Survey on Higher Education 2020-21.
      • Total Enrolments
        • Total enrolment in higher education: It has increased to nearly 4.14 crore in 2020-21 from 3.85 crore in 2019-20.
        • Female enrolment: It has increased to 2.01 crore from 1.88 crore in 2019-20.
        • Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER): As per 2011 population projections for 18-23 years age group, GER has increased to 27.3 from 25.6 in 2019-20.
          • Female GER has overtaken Male GER since 2017-18.
          • Gender Parity Index (GPI), the ratio of female GER to male GER, has increased from 1 in 2017-18 to 1.05 in 2020-21.
        • Top 6 States in terms of number of students enrolled: Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan.
      • Faculty
        • Total number of faculty/teachers: 15,51,070 of which about 57.1% are male and 42.9% are female.
        • Female per 100 male faculty: It has improved to 75 in 2020-21 from 74 in 2019-20 and 63 in 2014-15.
