1. 1st Inland Waterways Development Council (IDWC) chaired by the Union Minister of India, Sarbananda Sonowal has commited Rs 45,000 crore for development of River Cruise Tourism.
   • Objective–
     • To boost the economy and trade, make rivers and other inland water routes usable as channels.
   • Key points–
     • Of this ₹45,000 crore, an estimated ₹35,000 crore has been earmarked for cruise vessels and another ₹10,000 crore for development of cruise terminal infrastructure.
     • Union Minister has also launched ‘Harit Nauka’ guidelines for Green Transition of Inland Vessels and ‘River Cruise Tourism Roadmap, 2047’ at the inaugural session of IWDC.

1. West Bengal government has launched ‘Yogyasree’ scheme for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes students.
   • Details of Yogyasree Scheme-
     • It is a new welfare scheme for students aimed at providing training for various entrance and competitive exams.
     • 50 centres will be opened across the state where SC and ST students will be able to take training completely free of cost for competitive examinations.
     • Similar 46 centres will offer free training to SC and ST students aspiring for government jobs, civil services etc.
     • Other initiative-
       • An internship program for students has also been launched to provide internship to 2500 students.

   • Objective-
     • To provide government employees with a range of exclusive benefits and enhance their overall banking experience.
   • Features of Cards-
     • It uniquely blends the benefits of a traditional credit card with the advanced features of UPI.
     • It offers number of advantages, including cashback on diverse expenditures, complimentary movie tickets, no charges on cash advances, and waivers on surcharges for transactions done through IRCTC and fuel purchases.

2. Indian Overseas Bank has introduced ‘Savings Account Portability Online’ to offer an easier savings account portability process for customers who move to different locations.
   • Key points-
     • Now, customers are not required to fill out multiple forms and wait for days or weeks for the account transfer to materialize.
     • To initiate an account transfer, customers need to log in to the IOB website (www.iob.in) and access the ‘Transfer of Savings Accounts’ section.

     • Low-power bioelectronic scaffolding can be used for soilless cultivation methods like hydroponics.
     • What is bioelectronic scaffolding ?
       • Bioelectronic scaffolding typically refers to the use of electronic devices or materials to support and influence the growth of biological tissues, such as in the field of tissue engineering.

1. Hindustani classical singer and music maestro Rashid Khan has passed away.
   • More about Ustad Rashid Khan-
     • Born in Badayun, Uttar Pradesh, Rashid Khan has received his initial training from his maternal grand-uncle, Ustad Nissar Hussain Khan (1909–1993).
     • He was an exponent of the Rampur-Sahaswan gayaki (style of singing) which is closely related to the Gwalior gharana.
     • Awards won-
       • He has won several awards including Padma Shri and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2006.
       • He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2022.
